~

June

Numerous juveniles and adults are caught in the act of breaking into vehicles in the Lexington and Blaine
areas by CPLPD officers. Suspects are found to be in possession of stolen items from all five Centennial
area cities. All suspects are charged in court and property is returned to the rightful owners.

An adult male attempts to abduct a local juvenile female outside a Lexington business. Police are called
to scene as suspect flees area in an automobile. Charges are filed against the male who has a long history
of criminal sexual conduct. Charges in case do not proceed past the Anoka County Attorney's office.

July

Three separate domestic incidents turn violent and two suspects are charged in court with felony assault.
One suspect is charged with biting off the lip of her victim. Another suspect is charged with gross
misdemeanor resisting arrest after struggling with the officer who responded to the assault.

A Centerville resident arrives home to find two male burglars present. Suspects flee residence and
attempt to escape in Centerville Lake. Centennial Rescue assists in apprehending suspects who are
exhausted from swimming. Even the Chief got involved in this one, and I of course got stuck with all the
paperwork!

-

A Lexington business falls victim to an employee theft. During investigation and after several interviews
with employees, a fingerprint is found on an altered deposit ticket. When suspect in case responds to be
fingerprinted, we find his prints are marred by dried super-glue; on all fingers and thumbs. Upon
submitting "normal" fingerprints of this suspect, the Anoka County Crime Lab confirms a thumbprint
match to the altered deposit ticket latent print. Suspect is charged out accordingly in court.

An exposer is caught in Circle Pines after reports are received on two consecutive days by different
victims. A criminal history check on this suspect reveals no previous convictions for this type of crime.
The Circle Pines City Attorney, doing a little sleuthing of his own, finds the male suspect to have FIVE
previous misdemeanor convictions for exposing in Ramsey County!

August

A Lexington resident lists his personal vehicle for sale and is contacted by a fellow Lexington resident
wanting to test drive same. Vehicle is never returned from the test drive. Police apprehend this suspect in
northern MN during an investigation into an unrelated incident involving another vehicle theft. It seems,
unfortunately for the thief, the motor had quit on the Lexington vehicle. After "selling" this vehicle to the
tow driver who came to his ( the thiefs) rescue, and stealing another, this thiefs "luck" ran out!

A male party in Centerville crashes his motorcycle after popping a "wheelie." Upon police arrival, male
states he's okay and is transported home by police. The next day, the accident report had to be amended.
The driver of the motorcycle failed to inform the officer that a female was also on his motorcycle when it
crashed. She had sustained serious injuries and had been transported from the scene by a passerby.
Driver of cycle was charged with felony driving infractions.

September

A local male seriously assaults his mother and flees scene. Male had previously inflicted similar injuries
to family members, but had not been charged per family request.

t
