City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />January 23, 2008 <br />the Filing of Maintenance Bond. All in favor. (4/1-Council Member Lee). Motion <br />carried. <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br />Resolution #08-004 - Supporting Local Franchising Pursuant to MN State <br />Statutes Chapter 238 & Federal Law & Opposing Any Amendments to Same that <br />would Eviscerate Local Authority & Establish a Statewide Franchising Scheme. <br />Council Member Lakso explained that all cities are attempting to support local <br />franchising to maintain local authority. <br />Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Paar, to approve <br />Resolution #08-004; a Resolution Supporting Local Franchising Pursuant to MN <br />State Statutes Chapter 238 & Federal Law & Opposing Any Amendments to Same <br />that would Eviscerate Local Authority & Establish a Statewide Franchising Scheme. <br />All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />2. Resolution #08-005 -Authorizing the City to Act as Le a.~ 1 Sponsor for the <br />Projects Contained in the Redevelopment Grant Program & Submittal to DEED. <br />City Administrator Larson reported that Finance Director Meyer has reviewed and <br />completed an application for submittal on behalf of the City. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Lakso, to approve <br />Resolution #08-005; a Resolution Authorizing the City to Act as Legal Sponsor for <br />the Proiects Contained in the Redevelopment Grant Program & Submittal to DEED <br />All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br />City Survey Results <br />Council Member Lee reported on the City Survey results. He stated that overall, the <br />residents are happy with the quality of life in Centerville with the exception of road <br />construction. There is also satisfaction in the Police Department and City staff; however <br />street lighting and communication were issues of concern to residents. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Council noted that the survey has been reviewed and that additional review is needed. <br />4. Planning & Zoning Commission Recommendation for the City to Request the <br />Installation of Guard Rail Along the East Side of Centerville Road (CSAH 21~ <br />from Center Street South for a Distance of Approximately 400 feet -Anoka <br />County Hi..~y Department <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Page 4 of 7 <br />
