<br />Meeting Minutes - CC <br />August 9, 1989 <br />Page Ten <br /> <br />Discussion of municipal facilities. <br /> <br />Council member Pelton had contacted two architectural firms. It <br />is estimated that the architectural and engineering fees would be <br />approximately 6% to 7% of the cost of the building. Office space <br />of a building would cost from $50.00 to $80.00 per square foot <br />($70.00 being the norm), and the garage space would cost <br />approximately $30.00 per square foot. Estimating garage space at <br />3000 square feet, the cost of the garage space would be <br />approximately $90,000. Estimating the office space at <br />approximately 2000 square feet, the cost of the office space in a <br />proposed municipal fire building would be approximately $140,000. <br />The total cost of the proposed building being approximately <br />$230,000. This is to not include furnishings or archi tectural <br />and engineering fees. <br /> <br />council member Pelton noted that should a facility be two <br />stories, each elevator would cost an approximately $50,000 <br />additional. The architectural firms advised that it would take <br />approximately four to six weeks to design and develop a building <br />plan. This is to not include the contract document. An <br />additional four to six weeks would be needed for the contact <br />document. A minimum of six months thus would be required through <br />the contract document stage. A minimum of four to six months <br />would be required to build the municipal facility. Public <br />hearings can slow down the above progress. It is estimated that <br />the project could take minimum of one year if all Council members <br />agree and there are no problems with regard to the plan, the <br />contract document or the building of the facility. <br /> <br />council member Neumann advised that he had been quoted $175,000 <br />as a purchase price for the RoSo Contracting building. He <br />advised that he had collected data which indicates that it would <br />cost them an additional $125,000 to remodel the building to the <br />City needs. <br /> <br />Council member Burgstahler noted that he does have background <br />information wi th regard to municipal facili ties, but that the <br />Council has not advanced much further than this information. He <br />noted that the city may need to obtain a specific plan and <br />proposals. He noted that it may be difficult for the city <br />
