<br />RI(:IE C::RIEIEIK <br />WATIERSHED <br />DISTRI(:Y <br />V Vcv~U;e/ <br /> <br />Volunteers Wantedl <br /> <br />The Rice Creek Watershed District is looking <br />for volunteers for a number of events and <br />projects. <br /> <br />Set UP for Livina Green Expo. 20 adult <br />volunteers to help set up at the Living Green Expo at the Minnesota State Fair <br />Grounds on Friday, May 2,2008. We are looking for 10 people from 10 a.m.- <br />2:00 p.m. and 10 people from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Please call or email if you're <br />interested in helping and let me know if you would like to carpool. We will meet at <br />the coliseum at the State Fair grounds. <br /> <br />Stonn drain markinu. We would like to have every storm drain within the Rice <br />Creek Watershed District to have the message "Clean Streets = Cleaner Lakes & <br />Creeks' next to it to help educate the public on the impact our streets have on <br />our watelS since the streets drain straight to our watelS. VolunteelS can do as <br />much or as little as they want. This is a great project for youth clubs. <br /> <br />Adoot a p/antina. Do you like to garden? Many plantings that have put in over <br />the past few years could stand some weeding. <br /> <br />Get involved with the award-winninu Blue Thumb - Plantina for Clean Water <br />Proaram - Started as a Rice Creek Watershed District outreach program, Blue <br />Thumb now spans the state of Minnesota and has 40 partners. The momemtum <br />is still building and there are many ways to be involved with this program. We <br />need everything from a Blue Thumb jingle, YouTube videos and podcasts to <br />hosts and presenters for neighborhood "Blue Thumb" parties and folks to staff <br />Blue Thumb information tables and local events and fairs. <br /> <br />For more information, contact Dawn Pape, dpaoe@ricecreek.orQ or 763-398- <br />3070 x178. <br />
