Chief Van Burkleo introduced Ron Nelson,
Investigator on the Circle Pines/Lexington Police Department.
Chief Van Burkleo advised that on November 27, 1990 the CirCle
Pines/Lexington Police Commission recommended approval to the
Circle Pines and Lexington City Council's for the proposed contract
of Police Services to the City of Centerville. He also advised
that the Circle Pines City Council reviewed the contract on
November 27, 1990 and that it was approved unanimously. He noted
that the officers considered for the positions to serve cente~~~le
have already completed written exams and oral interviews. y
are now taking part in psychological and medical examinatio~ .
Chief Van Burkleo noted that one officer will be placed on staff
approximately two weeks early, as this officer has already had some
field training. That officer should be ready to serve
independently beginning January 1, 1991. He advised that the other
two officers would be assigned to current Circle Pines/Lexington
Police Department officers for training for approximately two
months. Thus, the City of Centerville will be seeing many veteran
officers within the City during that time period.

The following Council members made comments regarding the".1991
Police Service.

Mayor Haberman:
-He thanked Chief Dave Van Burkleo for all the efforts he has
put toward the Police Service contract.
-He advised that he appreciated the willingness of the Circle
pines and Lexington City Councils to work toward a common
goal and that this is proof that when ci ties work
together that common goals can be completed.

Council member Burgstahler:
-It should be noted that the contract was put together fairly
quickly and that all cities sl)ould approach the agreement
with an open mind.
-It is noted that this is an experiment, but he is confident
that it will be successful.
-He feels that all sides have shown flexibility and hope that
they continue to feel free to talk openly with each
other.

Council member Buckbee:
