city council Meeting Minutes
september 12, 1990
Page 3

Centerville can afford.
-In the meeting it was revealed that the proposed 1991 Police
Service was estimated using two officers. However, no
other details have been shared with regard to how the
specific figures were arrived at. It appears that the
Lino Lakes City council is not interested in discussing
those specific figures.
-It appears that Lino Lakes does not incur extra incremental
costs for servicing Centerville.
-Lino Lakes does not appear to keep track of specific patrol
times.
-Lino Lakes would like the City of Centerville to discuss what
dollar figures they could afford and specific ideas on
how to change the contract.

council member Neumann arrived at 8:05 p.m.

council member Pelton noted the following.
-She felt Centerville could request from Lino Lakes a service
close to the eight hour, seven day a week proposal
submitted by the Anoka county Sheriff's Office.
-She noted that it may be less expensive for the Sheriff's
Office to give the same level of service.
-She would like Centerville to use the same dollar figure used
by Anoka County so that the levels of service can be
compared.
-Lino Lakes has eluded that there is a system with regard to
how they arrive at the dollar amount for the cost of
Police Service for the City of Centerville, but that they
do not want to divulge that system.
-She truly believes that the Anoka County Sheriff's Office
would give quality full service, and that the residents
would not lack in police protection.
-Crime prevention dollars are well spent and they more than
cover the costs of crime that would have otherwise
occurred.
of now, Centerville is "hands off" as far as having any
with regard to the police service provided.
would like to continue to leave the door open to Lino
Lakes so that they may submit a second proposal.
However, she notes that there are more affordable options
available to the city.

-As
say
-She

Mayor Haberman noted the following.
-In reviewing the cost increase for the last two years, it is
his opinion that Centerville may not have received that
much of an increase in service.
-He would like to see a basis for the cost of the 1991 Police
Service Proposal.
-He would like to see more time spent on Crime Prevention
