<br />City Council Meeting Minutes <br />september 12, 1990 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />programs. <br />-Columbus Township is larger than the City of Centerville and <br />they have pOlice service eight hours per day, five days <br />per week. <br />-He is concerned about the constrictions of the city budget. <br /> <br />Council member Buckbee commented: <br />-He questioned whether the residents in Centerville and Lino <br />Lakes are paying the same dollar amount of the Police <br />Service. <br />-No Department can guarantee a given response time. <br />-Local community services make sense. <br />-He would like to see an increase in accountability and <br />control for the City. <br /> <br />The following audience members asked questions regarding the 1991 <br />Police Service Proposal: <br />Bill Svetin, 1687 Peltier Lake Drive <br />Leon L'Allier, 1973 Main Street <br />Bob Wright, 7137 Brian Drive <br />Tracy Tobin, 1827 prairie Drive <br /> <br />Motion by Pelton, second by Haberman to direct City staff to draft <br />and send a letter to Randy Schumacher, Lino Lakes City <br />Administrator, and Dean Campbell, Lino Lakes Chief of Police <br />requesting a proposal for coverage of Police Service with the <br />following: <br />-a dollar amount of $65,000 for 1991; <br />-an estimate of 1992 costs; <br />-a level of coverage that they would describe; <br />-a description of the alternate proposal should be available <br />to the City offices by September 20, 1990 so that they <br />can be included in the next City Council packets; <br />-if the coverage offered is less than 24 hours a day, seven <br />days a week the Centerville City Council would like to <br />have the powers of consultation with regard to scheduling <br />shifts/hours; <br />aye - Haberman, aye - Pelton, aye - Buckbee, aye - Neumann, nay <br />Burgstahler; motion carried. <br /> <br />Council member Burgstahler noted that he is not opposed to <br />requesting an alternate proposal from Lino Lakes, but notes that <br />he would be willing to pay a dollar amount similar to that offered <br />by the Anoka County Sheriff's Office for eight hours per day, seven <br />days per week service. This dollar amount is approximately <br />$85,000. <br /> <br />Extension of Municipal Water <br />Motion by Neumann, second by Burgstahler to direct the City <br />Engineer to amend the plans and specifications for the proposed <br />
