<br />City Council Meeting Minutes of December 27, 1995 <br /> <br />MOTION by Buckbee, second by Brenner to direct statfto obtain 2-3 quotes for the <br />landscaping at the Northern Forest Products site. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />LAMOTTE PARK ACQUISmON <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber stated that the LaMotte Estate agreed tonight to the terms of the <br />contract; including the 8% interest and that the seller pays for the survey. Wilharber also <br />noted that the city has received a grant application. <br /> <br />BENEFITS FOR FULL- TIME STAFF <br /> <br />Councilmember Helmbrechts suggested offering staff Group Health to be paid by the city <br />for the employee only, if the employee chooses family or another carrier the employee <br />pays the difference, if the employee chooses not to go on the city's policy the employee is <br />not to be reimbursed for anything else. <br /> <br />Councilmember Powers-Rasmussen questioned why the city needs to pay for the full <br />premium, why not an 800tfo plan. Helmbrecht commented that the city needs to have a <br />good benefit plan for the employees. Powers-Rasmussen suggested checking with other <br />cities on their benefits. <br /> <br />Councilmember Buckbee and Mayor Wilharber agreed with paying the $209.67 for Group <br />Health and for the Dental Plan for the employee only. And to contact the City Attorney <br />on the current arrangement with Paul Palzer. <br /> <br />MOTION by Buckbee, second by Helmbrecht to authorize the full-time staffhealth <br />benefits of the city to pay $209.67 for Group Health and $15.70 for dental and that the <br />city will not pay for added coverage or if the employee chooses not to use the city's policy <br />and to contact the attorney regarding Paul Palzer's current arrangement. Motion carried, <br />Powers-Rasmussen voted Nay. <br /> <br />KEN COOK'S EMPLOYMENT STATUS <br /> <br />The council discussed Mr. Cook's current work load. <br /> <br />Powers-Rasmussen questioned Orville Hughes status with the city. Paul Palzer stated he <br />is currently working half days on Monday or on an as needed basis. The council discussed <br />whether Hughes should be a temporary employee or on an on-call basis. Helmbrecht <br />mentioned that Hughes has the knowledge of the city and is a real benefit. <br /> <br />MOTION by Buckbee, second by Helmbrecht to extend Ken Cook's employment for <br />another 60 days, at that time it will be considered again, and to maintain a 30 hour or less <br />work week.
