<br />Meeting Minutes - CC <br />page five <br />October 9, 1991 <br /> <br />Council member Burgstahler noted that Council member Pelton has <br />some very good points in her view point for parks and trailways <br />and that he respected those advantages. <br /> <br />Consolidation <br />Motion by Pelton to authorize City staff to send a letter to the <br />Minnesota Municipal Board objecting to the validity of the <br />petition amendments, as they were added after Centerville <br />residents had signed the petition, Council member Pelton withdrew <br />her motion. <br /> <br />Council member Burgstahler advised that although he may not be in <br />favor of the process and the methods to get there, he felt that <br />at this stage the process is inevitable and would like to move <br />through it a quickly and efficiently as possible. He felt that <br />even if the petitioners were made to resign, 5% (approximately 30 <br />people) could be found to do so. <br /> <br />Council member Dario noted that possibly if made to resign, with <br />the information added there may be person who have changed their <br />minds. <br /> <br />Council member Wilharber expressed concern regarding the costs <br />and research time that will be needed for this process. He <br />appeared to feel that there is nothing wrong at looking at <br />consolidation, but that the petition and municipal board may not <br />have been the best route to take. He suggested that discussions <br />with the Lino Lakes and Centerville City Councils may have been <br />better. <br /> <br />Mayor Buckbee expressed surprise that so many signed the petition <br />with so little information. <br /> <br />Council member <br />Buckbee on the <br />Newsletter. <br /> <br />Wilharber <br />contents <br /> <br />complimented City staff and Mayor <br />of the Special Addition Consolidation <br /> <br />Council member Pelton advised that the persons who are chosen for <br />the Consolidation Commission should be fact finders who can put <br />together a good report.
