<br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />SEPTEMBER 25, 1991 <br />PAGE TWO <br /> <br />Council member Dario questioned if the proposed parking changes <br />would conflict with the walking path. <br /> <br />It was noted that the proposed parking changes would not conflict <br />with the walking path. <br /> <br />Circle Pines Police Sergeant Robert Makela was present. Sergeant <br />Makela expressed that the proposed parking is a good idea from a <br />safety stand point. <br /> <br />Motion by Buckbee, second by Dario that per the recommendation of <br />Mikes Hughes, Centennial School Transportation/Safety Manger, the <br />following is approved: <br />to double park buses along Westview Street; <br />to close Westview Street to east bound traffic between <br />3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.; <br />to eliminate parking on the south side of Westview <br />Street between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.; <br />to change the parking signs along the south side of <br />Westview Street, <br />for the 1991-1992 school year, motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />A copy of the letter and diagram d~ted September 18, 1991 from <br />Mike Hughes, Centennial Schools Transportation/Safety ~anag~r <br />regarding parking at the Centerville Elementary School 16 on file <br />with the Clerk/Administrator. <br /> <br />A copy of the memo dated September 17, 1991 from Circle <br />Pines/Lexington Police Chief David VanBurkleo regarding parking <br />at the Centerville Elementary School is on file with the <br />Clerk/Administrator. <br /> <br />Dan Henderson. Centerville Police Liaison <br />Dan Henderson, Centerville Police Liaison, apologized for not <br />showing up when he was on the agenda. Due to personal problems <br />he was unable to attend his schedule meetings. Police Liaison <br />Henderson noted that the 1992 Budget was approved by the Police <br />Commission, but needed to be approved by the City Councils of <br />Circle Pines and Lexington. In August the total number of patrol <br />hours was 176. The average patrol hours should be 150. The <br />speeding violations appeared to be high and the number of DUl's <br />was also up. Mr. Henderson also expressed concern about the <br />persons fishing at night by the Waterworks Bar. This could be a <br />dangerous situation. <br /> <br />Circle Pines/Lexington Sergeant Robert Makela was present. <br />Sergeant Makela noted that the outdoor concert at Trout Air in <br />Columbus Township may have contributed to higher number of DUl <br />arrests. <br />
