<br />July 13, 2001 <br />Emergency COImcil Meeting Minutes <br />Vickers stated that during the interim if Committees desired to have their own meetings, <br />if they have projects that they need to look into, set their own agenda, type and forward <br />same, do what they need to do to take up the slack. If they cannot take up the slack, then <br />they temporarily do not have meetings if they feel they can operate without Staff input. <br />Unless a Committee comes forward to Council and states that a project cannot wait or be <br />delayed, whatever. Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that she did not believe <br />that anything is so vital, at this point, given the situation that Council and Staff are in that <br />Council cannot say sorry. Mayor Swedberg stated that Council needed budget figures <br />from each Committee. Council Member Nelson stated that Fete des Lacs does have <br />commitments that have to be met. Council Member Broussard Vickers questioned <br />whether Fete des Lacs was utilizing a large amount of Staff time to do their organizing or <br />etc. Council concurred that they are not. Mayor Swedberg stated that Staff primarily is <br />providing accounting functions. Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that Staff <br />would continue in this respect and whatever projects any body is working on for any <br />Committee comes to a hah and Committees are notified. <br /> <br />Ms. Bender requested clarification in regards to the discussion and stated that the Parks <br />and Recreation Committee is currently working on the Wheels Park and ordering <br />equipment for same and Council does want that to proceed. Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers stated the ordering of equipment. Projects that are in the works and has some <br />public impact. <br /> <br />Mr. McPherson introduced himself to Council. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers felt that the intern could commence employment and <br />assist Staff with answering the telephone as a start and in another week or two (2) <br />Council can determine whether to hire a temporary individual. Council Member Travis <br />stated that the training of the intern would take away from current Staff time. Discussion <br />ensued in regards to the intern's educational background. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg suggested that Mr. March draft an outline of what Mr. March desire the <br />intern to accomplish assisting the intern in direction. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra requested that Council draft a list of items that Mr. March needed <br />to be accomplished prior to his last day and items that Council needed additional <br />information on. The list is as follows: Ms. Kris Sweeney's performance review, whether <br />or not Mr. March had extended the offer to the intern and outline the projects he desired <br />the intern to complete. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the hiring of a temporary individual. Consensus was to wait <br />on this item; however, Council was open to this option. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers questioned the payment of overtime hours to <br />individuals who attend evening Committee/Commission meetings. Ms. Bender reported <br />that they are paid overtime. Council Member Capra stated that they probably wanted to <br />continue same. Council Member Broussard Vickers suggested applying those same <br />hours and applies them however to daytime hours and not nighttime hours. In other <br />words Council would take that same time and apply that to office work and no more <br /> <br />Page 5 of 15 <br />
