City of Centerville March 27, 2002 Council Minutes IX. CONSENT AGENDA 1. The City ofCenterville March 14,2002 through March 27, 2002 Expenditures. 2. Centennial Fire District Expenditures 3. Resolution #02-008 (Lift Station #1 Renovation) 4. Citizen/Business of the Year Council indicated that the citizen of the year is Jerry Helmbrecht and the business of the year is Craig Bode from Main Street Bank. Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member Nelson to approve the Consent Aeenda as presented. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. X. COMMITTEE REPORTS Council Member Broussard Vickers reported that the Parks and Recreation Commission had received information that the County had received funding for widening County Road 14 to four lanes from 35W to 35E and is scheduled to begin construction in 2005 or 2006. Mayor Swedberg indicated the City would be discussing the matter with the County. Mayor Swedberg asked Ms. Moore-Sykes to write a letter to County Commissioner Langfeld to request further information on the project. Council Member Capra indicated the Cable Commission did not meet due to lack of a quorum. Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that the Economic Development Commission had asked if there was money or grants available for water downtown. Council Member Capra indicated she had told them there was no money in the budget but said Council would be reviewing the matter in August during budget negotiations. She then indicated the Commission would like to pursue the option of grants because the Commission feels water downtown would greatly increase the business opportunities. Council Member Capra indicated that the Commission discussed having its business appreciation dinner on May 21,2002. Council Member Capra reported that the Commission discussed volunteer appreciation day and wants to keep the business appreciation dinner separate. Page 15 of 18
