<br />. l <br /> <br />City of Centerville <br />February 13, 2002 <br />Council Minutes <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated she felt that City water is a benefit to the <br />property and is a good bargain when the wells fail. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson stated she felt the fire hydrant was important. <br /> <br />Mr. Rehbein commented that the lower the number, the happier the resident, but <br />cautioned the City against setting a precedent that is too low. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated this project is sharing costs with two <br />developers rather than one but said the precedent is very close to the way assessments <br />have been done in the past. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson asked whether Council was interested in her financing proposal <br />of $60,000 for the developer, $60,000 for DeFoe, $27,000 for the City so that the <br />developer could feel confident knowing what the IlUlIlbers were and could move forward. <br /> <br />Ms. Bender commented that one resident on Mound Trail was interested in City services <br />and was sending around a petition but noted she has not seen that petition yet. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg commented that Council was c~ngmg numbers on the fly again and he <br />is uncomfortable with that. <br /> <br />Motion by Mavor Swedbel'J. seconded b~ Counell Member Travis to table this <br />matter for further consideration of the numbers. Ayes -2. Nays - 3 (Broussard <br />ViekenINelson/Capra. Motion failed. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked whether one more two-week delay would <br />adversely affect the construction schedule. Mr. Rehbein indicated he bad heard that <br />water may not be finished until September. Mr. Peterson indicated that the project would <br />be completed sometime in August. <br /> <br />Mr. Rehbein indicated he would like to :finish the plat and with things in limbo he cannot <br />do that. He then said it is easy to say just two more weeks but he bas been waiting for <br />final plat approval since the first of December. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson suggested considering a range for the dollar amounts between <br />$60,000 and $65,000. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated that the only thing that would hold her <br />back is that the residents wanted to be here and were not aware this matter was being <br />discussed. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson indicated that Mr. DeFoe bad hired a surveyor and is working on a proposal <br />for what type of development can be placed on the parcel. He then commented that <br />Council may have a plan for homes on that parcel before the next meeting. <br />\ <br /> <br />Page 11 of25 <br />
