City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />September 10, 2008 <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard-Vickers, seconded by Council Member Paar, <br />to approve the Parks and Recreation's recommendation to purchase arock-climbing <br />wall, RBHS-510 or Equivalent -Not to exceed $5,200 (Conditioned Upon Funds <br />Provided By Deadbroke Saddle Club Donation). All in favor. Motion approved <br />unanimously. <br />6. Parks & Recreation Committee Recommendation for an additional $693 for <br />YMCA Summer Programs - (Payable to YMCA -Council Approved $1,000 in <br />Februar <br />Councilmember Lee clarified that this request for additional funds is for this past summer's <br />programs. He stated that early spring, 2008, the Council authorized a $1,000 expenditure. <br />He added that Parks & Recreation are now $1,500 shy of what they need, and they are <br />requesting help from the City Council. <br />Councilmember Lee stated that 42 kids benefited from this, and they had a good turnout, <br />considering it was the first year. He stated that this year, Parks & Recreation did not have <br />much of an Operating Budget, and they will use part of next year's Operating Budget to <br />fund these programs. <br />Mayor Capra inquired whether they have some funds left in the EDC Budget. <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers inquired whether the participants pay anything. <br />Councilmember Lee replied that yes, they do, but this is just starting up. <br />Councilmember Paar stated that they had originally committed to $1,000 for Parks & <br />Recreation. <br />Mayor Capra stated that she would like to see the Letter of Agreement the Parks & <br />Recreation Committee/Council had with the YMCA. <br />Councilmember Paar replied that there was no Agreement, the Parks & Recreation/Council <br />had made a commitment of $1000 to offer programs in Centerville. <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers stated that the Council made its contribution and that <br />should be all. <br />Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Broussard-Vickers, <br />to deny making an additional contribution of $693 for YMCA Summer Programs. <br />All in favor.
