City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />September 10, 2008 <br />b. Hidden Spring <br />City Engineer Statz reported that the plantings for the rain garden are now installed. <br />He stated that they put in about 400 plants, in addition to what survived, and some <br />spot replacements were done. He stated that the drinking fountain was straightened <br />and they got the contractor to fix the trail, which was not a structural problem but a <br />surface scar. He reported that the project is now nearing completion. <br />c. Laurie LaMotte - Drinking Fountain <br />Councilmember Lee stated that no drinking fountain has been installed in LaMotte <br />Park, which should have been done. He stated that he is not sure what happened. <br />blican National Convention/Centerville Volunteers <br />Mayor Capra reported that during the Republican National Convention there were peaceful <br />demonstrators from Centerville as well as volunteers that worked at the Convention, and <br />she is proud of Centerville's citizens. She added that items are being collected to bring to <br />the Anoka Historical Society from Centerville. <br />4. CERT/Citizen Corp. Council <br />Mayor Capra reported that she has discussed this with Councilmember Lakso. She stated <br />that they have volunteer and police service and a neighborhood watch, but they need to <br />formulate a Citizen Corp Council. She stated that this needs to be done as part of their <br />Grant. Mayor Capra stated that she will go to Lexington and Circle Pines City Councils to <br />see who will serve on it. It will be beneficial to have affiliate partners, so they know who <br />has the ability to do what. She added that she has been asked by the Citizens Corp. <br />Organization to participate in a discussion in November. She stated that there will be more <br />to come regarding this issue. <br />Councilmember Lakso stated that anyone is welcome, and they can get more information <br />from the website. <br />Mayor Capra stated that she wanted to congratulate Councilmember Lakso for recruiting <br />new CERT members to work with. <br />Mayor Capra stated that the Lions Club expressed an interest, so she will be meeting with <br />them. She added that the League of Minnesota Cities (Mike Erickson from Hugo) <br />contacted Councilmember Lee requesting some sort of training for their elected officials. <br />Planning and Zoning Commission -Variances <br />Page 9 of 10 <br />
