CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
DECEMBER 9, 1992
PAGE TWO

r,

Motion by Pelton, second by Wilharber to approve the agenda,
motion carried unanimously.

a. DES ENGLUND - WATER CONNECTION - 7081 BRIAN DRIVE

City Engineer John Stewart described the water connection project
and indicated that the City Council, at an earlier date,
recommended that the City install a two inch copper line to the
Des Englund property. The City Engineer received quotes on the
two inch copper line and found that it would cost approximately
$5,000.00 to install the two inch copper line. A six inch PVC
pipe, which would be large enough to service the adjacent three
lots, could be installed for approximately $3,800.00. The
$3,800.00 would pay for a six inch PVC pipe which would stop at
the rear of Mr. Englund.s lot and allow for a connection which
Mr. Englund could tie in his water line. The City Engineer
further indicated that a one inch copper pipe could be installed
by Mr. Englund which would cost less than $2,500.00. That
installation however would not have the capacity to serve the
three adjacent lots.

Des Englund, 7081 Brian Drive, was present and commented on the
request.

Mayor Buckbee questioned
costs for the six inch PVC
Englund would be paying.

The City Engineer indicated that, in the past the City has
installed water lines and paid the cost and collected $2,500.00
for each hook-up_ The cost of this installation could be paid
from the water operating account.

~o
pipe

would
over

be funding the additional
the $2,500.00 which Mr.

Council member Wilharber expressed his concern that we would be
setting a precedence of providing water to the back of the lots
rather than in the street and providing the water even though not
all residents have petitioned for it.

The City
six inch
would be
petition

Engineer explained that the $3,600.00 would provide the
pipe only to Mr. Englund.s property and additional costs
incurred to- extend it to the adjacent properties upon
from those properties.

Motion by Council member Pelton to authorize the work at 7081
Brian Drive in the amount of $3,850.00 and that the project be
awarded to C.W. Houle, Inc. who was the low bidder on the
project. She further moved that $2,500.00 of the project be paid
by Mr. Englund and the balance to paid by the water utility fund.
The motion was seconded by Tom Wilharber and approved
Yft8ftim@Y81,=
