CC Meeting Minutes
page five
September 14, 1988

per day coverage and hopefully increase that to 24
hours per day as the Centerville population were to
increase. Fritchie noted that it was anticipated that
the police department would take over the facilities
currently occupied by the fire department when Station
#3 is relocated. Fritchie advised that Centerville has
tried to communicate with Lino Lakes. Fritchie
recognized the names on the petition, but because of
the misinformation supplied to the petitioners she did
not feel that it was a valid representation of what the
people want. She agreed that this could be a ballot
item. Fritchie concurred with the need for a liaison,
but felt that the liaison should work with the Lino
Lakes City Administrator as that is where some of the
perceived problems originate. She noted that the City
should seriously evaluate this proposal again in 1989.
-Mayor L'Allier felt that it may be premature to have the
issue on the 1988 ballot. It would be his thought to
implement a liaison for a two year period.

Motion by Burgstahler, second by L'Allier to direct the City
Clerk to contact Lino Lakes to renew the 1989 Lino Lakes Police
Protection Contract for the 1989 year; Clerk will stop all
current action to initiate a Centerville Police Department as
previously authorized at the August 31, 1988 City Council
meeting; Clerk will work on a draft of responsibilities for a
police liaison; the City of Centerville accepts the amended
contract language as agreed upon by the Lino Lakes City Council
and as confirmed in the August 30, 1988 letter from Randy
Schumacher, Lino Lakes City Administrator, aye: Neumann,
Burgstahler, Fritchie, L'Allier.

Council member Neumann asked that the motion be amended to
include that if contract terms are not met by the liaison by July
1989 that Centerville will again initiate procedures to implement
a Centerville Police Department in 1990. Council member
Burgstahler advised that he was not prepared to put this into his
motion at this time.

Kathy Welk,
listening,
concerns.

7219 Mill
discussing,

Road complimented the Council for
and coming to a solution to resident

Meeting was recessed at 9:45 p.m.

Meeting resumed at 10:00 p.m.

OLD BUSINESS
Motion by Neumann, second by Fritchie
contact Northern States Power to write

to direct City Clerk to
an easement for the CC
