City of Centerville
City Council Meeting
March 31. 2009

Councilmember Paar stated that Centerville is a huge Garage Sale community in the summer
and he believes parking on only one side of the street would be a better solution.

Councilmember Lee stated that the Council should look into this further.

Councilmember Broussard Vickers suggested that the Council could have a Neighborhood
Meeting after they receive the police input.

3. Ootional Water Shut Off Valve Insurance for Homeowners Offered Through the City

Councilmember Fehrenbacher noted that the city recently clarified by an Ordinance that it is
the homeowner's responsibility to maintain the curb shutoff. He inquired whether the City
could offer an insurance policy to the citizens.

CounciImember Broussard Vickers suggested that the citizens could buy a monthly service
plan. She stated the City has to be sure the work is done properly and know the cost. She
added that if the City did not make it voluntary, they could figure out a cost and make it the
City's responsibility to charge the citizens for it but it would have to be an amount that
makes sense.

City Administrator Larson stated that the insurance could turn out to be pretty expensive, so
$3,500 would not be out of line.

Councilmember Fehrenbacher stated that he sees an advantage in making it mandatory.

CounciImember Paar stated that if it would amount to only $IO/year, he would defmitely
agree to it.

4. Lift Station #1 - Grinder Pumus Replacement

City Administrator Larson stated that, along County Road 14, on the Centerville Lake side,
there have been a lot of problems with the grinder pumps. The City spent $7-8,000 on
repairs in the last year. The current pump was put in about 8 years ago. Public Works
Director Palzer suggested using a different type of pump.

City Engineer Statz stated that a lot of lift stations utilize this suggested kind of pump. He
added that this would replace the grinder pump.

Councilmember Broussard Vickers inquired as to why the City would not then have the
same problem it had before, when it had this type of pump.

Councilmember Paar stated that he would like to see this taken care of quickly and would
like to have Public Works Director Palzer discuss his reasoning.

Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded bv Council Member Paar. to
anDrove the chanl!:e in DumDS. Der Public Works Director Palzer's recommendation.
after his discussions with City Administrator Larson. Motion carried (4/1) Council
Member Lee oDDosed.
