City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />March 31, 2009 <br />Councilmember Lee requested that Item 8 be pulled for discussion. <br />With regard to item 7, Mayor Capra pointed out that the City waives fees for the non-profit <br />organizations. <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers, seconded by Council Member Paar, to <br />approve Items 1-7 of the Consent Agenda as presented. All in favor. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />8. Pay Request #1, Dresel Contractin02009) Pond Dredging w/Change Order #1 - <br />$9,943.65 <br />Councilmember Lee stated that Public Works Director Palzer suggested that the City go 150 <br />feet farther north. The 227 feet mentioned is half of the northerly pond. <br />Councilmember Fehrenbacher inquired whether the City is still within the original budget. <br />City Engineer Statz replied it was, except for the Change Order. <br />City Administrator Larson stated that this was quite fair for the City in that it commits the <br />contractor to do the work next winter at the same prices. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Broussard Vickers, to <br />approve Item 8 of the Consent Agenda as presented. All in favor. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />VL AWARDS/PRESENTATIONS/APPEARANCES <br />Mr. Jeff Gerdesmeier, Centerville Lion's -Request for 2009 Funding (Fete des Lacs <br />Celebration) <br />Mr. Gerdesmeier appeared to request $16,100 for the Fete des Lacs Celebration. He stated <br />that a breakdown of that amount is outlined on the top of Page 2 on the handout that is in the <br />Councilmembers' packets. He also requested approval of the permit application and a <br />special events permit for the Easter Egg Hunt. <br />Councilmember Lee stated that the City Council already approved the Permit and the <br />Special Events Permit in the Consent Agenda. He stated that he would like to direct <br />$15,000 toward the Festival. <br />Mr. Gerdesmeier explained that he was requesting $1,100 above that because of cost <br />increases, a bigger tent, and other unplanned for expenses. <br />Mayor Capra stated that the additional $1,100 would have to be discussed with the Staff. <br />Councilmember Paar stated that the Council wants to support the Celebration as much as <br />they can. He stated that he understands there are a lot more free items now as well. He <br />stated that he would like to get the budgeted money approved. <br />Page 3 of 10 <br />
