<br />Ms. Bender questioned what Staff should do if Water Works wants to renew and Council <br />does not meet until January. <br /> <br />Council indicated that Water Works would need to wait until the next Council meeting as <br />it had not submitted a license renewal and could not be approved before the application <br />was submitted. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if it is common practice that this is the time of year to submit <br />your liquor license renewal. Ms. Bender indicated that she had sent out a letter with <br />documentation indicating that licenses were up for renewal. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis indicated he thought the $500.00 fine was excessive. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers explained that she felt the $500.00 was high enough <br />to help businesses remember that they need to disclose liquor violations. She also <br />indicated that, if a fine is not set and the licenses not approved, the businesses would lose <br />much more than $500.00 during the time between midnight on December 31, 2001 and <br />the next Council meeting. <br /> <br />Vote: Ayes - 3. Nays - 2(Swedbemffravis). Motion carried. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked how many liquor licenses are available in the City. Ms. <br />Bender indicated that the number of licenses is based on the size of the City. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked whether the application process requires that <br />the businesses provide Certificates ofInsurance. Ms. Bender indicated that the <br />application process does require Certificates ofInsurance. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member ~ <br />Capra to approve tbe liquor licenses for Corner Express. Kelly's. Saller Liquors. <br />Trio. Tom Tbumb. and Wise GUYS Pizza. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis asked what the process for receiving a new license was. Ms. <br />Bender indicated that there is a background check conducted by the Police Department. <br /> <br />Mr. Vanderbeek indicated there were a lot of steps to follow with the state and the City <br />prior to approval. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if Wise Guys Pizza was expanding. Mr. Vanderbeek indicated <br />he is expanding to include more of a sit down business. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if Mr. Vanderbeek would be serving alcohol on the expanded <br />side ofhis business. Mr. Vanderbeek indicated that he would be serving alcohol on the <br />expanded side 0 f his business. <br /> <br />Page 8 of 17 <br />
