<br />Council Member Travis asked what the quarterly storm water management fee was for. <br />Mr. Palzer indicated it was an interim fee for working on the storm water plan and is <br />charged to everyone in the City. He then noted that the City would be adjusting that <br />amount when comments are received from the Metropolitan Council and the new <br />ordinance is adopted. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member <br />Capra to approve Resolution 01-02 with the noted chan2es. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated he would be voting against the Resolution because it was a lot <br />of numbers at the last minute and he thinks that it is important to hold the line on fees as <br />well as on taxes. <br /> <br />V ote: Aves - 41 N avs - I(Mavor Swedbef2) <br /> <br />5. Centennial Little League Request <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated the City had received a letter from Centennial Little League <br />requesting the use of the ball fields from April I, through August 15,2002. She noted <br />that she had presented the letter to the Park and Recreation Committee and the <br />Committee recommend approval. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers, seconded by Council Member <br />Capra. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />6. Receptionist/Secretary Hiring Recommendation <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes reviewed her hiring recommendation with Council and indicated that <br />the temporary employee, Ms. Stephan, had been working in the position since August and <br />Staff recommends hiring her at a wage of$11.27 per hour. She also indicated that Ms. <br />Stephan has shown knowledge of the position and an ability to work well with the public <br />and other Staff members. Ms. Moore-Sykes also recommended that the City waive the <br />30-day waiting period to receive holiday pay because Ms. Stephan has been working for <br />the City since August. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes also indicated that Ms. Stephan has extensive computer skills and <br />knowledge that will allow her to perform duties above and beyond the receptionist <br />position. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Nelson. seconded bv Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers to recommend the hirin2 of Ms. Stephan as the receptionist/secretary at <br />$11.27 per hour and waive the 30 day waitin2 period for holidav pay as <br />recommended by Staff.
