<br />SERGEANT <br /> <br />POSITION SUMMARY- The Sergeant serves in the capacity of a first line supervisor <br />responsible for directly overseeing the perfonnance of the street patrol function. <br />Sergeants interact with IIllmRgement recommending improvements to the department's <br />current policy and practices. Sergeants will be assigned such additional responsibilities <br />as directed by management or the Administrative Sergeant. Sergeants report to the <br />Administrative Sergeant. <br /> <br />Sergeants have the authority to: <br /> <br />I. Assign and direct work <br />2. Discipline and suspend for just cause <br />3. Reward and transfer <br /> <br />The Sergeant must be a licensed peace officer. The Commission will set minimal <br />standards for this position. <br /> <br />TYPICAL DUTIES: <br /> <br />I. Direct and manage day-to-day patrol activities including reviewing logs and daily <br />reports. <br />2. Respond to calls for service and provide backup to officers responding to calls as <br />needed. <br />3. Direct and supervise officer C.O.P. activities and compliance with assigned duties <br />e.g. the Reserve Unit, Squad Maintenance, Sex Offender Files, Orders for <br />Protection, Forfeitures, Hazard Files, USe of Force, Medical Equipment, etc. <br />4. Manage and coordinate daily training and roll call. <br />5. The perfonnance of such duties assigned by management and/or the <br />Adminimative Sergeant. <br />6. Conduct perfonnance reviews of officers and address issues relating to merit and <br />discipline. <br />7. May receive, investigate and address citizen and officer complaints. <br />8. May impose discipline to include the following: <br /> <br />a) Suspension <br />b) Written reprimand <br />.c) Oral reprimand <br />d) Remedial training <br />e) Transfer/Assignment <br /> <br />L <br />
