<br />City of Centerville Ord #24 <br />Effective: 10/27/99 <br /> <br />(I) The sheher shall include a moisture proof and wind proof structure of suitable <br />size to accommodate the domestic animal and allow retention of the body heat. <br /> <br />(2) Shade from the direct rays of the sun, during the months of June to September <br />shall be provided. <br /> <br />(3) A domestic animal kept on a farm may be provided with access to a barn with <br />sufficient quantity ofloose hay or bedding to protect against cold and dampness. <br /> <br />(4) All shelters required by this Section shall be subject to all building or zoning <br />regulations of the city, township, county or state. <br /> <br />24.12 Guard Dog Warning Signs. <br />A person maiDtaining a dog for security purposes within the City shall post a sign at all entrances <br />to the property. Said sign shall be a minimum of6" x 12", with letters of contrasting color, a <br />minimum of2" in height, and a brush stroke of2" minimum, with the following words affixed to <br />such sign, DANGER - GUARD DOG. <br /> <br />24.13 Abandoned Animals. <br />Upon written notice of the Chief of Police that private property is attracting or providing sheher <br />to animals that are not owned or cared for by any known person, the owner of such property shall <br />be responsible fur removing such animals in a humane manner within thirty (30) days of such a <br />written notice. <br /> <br />24.14 Animals Presenting a Danger to Health and Safety of City. If; in the reasonable belief <br />of a police officer, an animal presents an immediate danger to the health and safety of any person, <br />or the animal is threatening imminent harm to any person, or the animal is in the process of <br />attacking any person, the officer may destroy the animal in a proper and humane manner. <br />Otherwise the officer may-apprehend the animal and deliver it to the pound fur confinement. If <br />the animal is destroyed, a charge to dispose of the animal is payable by the owner of the animal If <br />the animal is found not to be a danger to the heahh and safety of the City, it may be released to <br />the owner or keeper in accordance with the provisions of this Ordinance. <br /> <br />24.15 Diseased Animals. <br /> <br />Subd. 1 Keeping of Diseased AnimaL No person shall keep or allow to be kept on his or her <br />premises, or on premises occupied by them, nor permit to run at large in the City, any <br />animal which is diseased so as to be a danger to the health and safety of the City, even <br />though the animal be properly licensed under this Section. <br /> <br />Subd. 2 Confinement. Any animal reasonably suspected of being diseased and presenting <br />a threat to the heahh and safety of the public, may be apprehended and confined in the <br /> <br />Page 11 of 16 <br />
