<br />City ofCenterville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />June 12, 2Q()2 <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson indicated she was interested in having the City move to the 21st <br />century. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson indicated she would like to ask staff to look into the matter by <br />getting the figures from the bank and looking in to paypals. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis asked that Staff look into merchant accounts and direct deposit. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson asked Staff to send a letter to Mr. Skoog to let him know what <br />the ultimate decision on this matter is. <br /> <br />2. St. Genevieve Church. Ms. Valeria Noll <br /> <br />Ms. Valeria Noll from St. Genevieve addressed Council and indicated the Church is in <br />the process of determining how to expand and she is looking for infonnation from <br />Council to see if the Church can consider expanding on the present site. She then asked <br />if it would be possible to vacate Goiffon Road, if there was a possibility to trade, buy or <br />lease property with the City, and what the likelihood of City water coming to the site <br />would be. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated she had talked with Mr. Palzer about utilities on <br />Goiffon and was told he did not believe there were any utilities running in that street. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra expressed concern about Goiffon because of the high speed <br />traffic and said she feels it is dangerous to cross the street to the Church. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett indicated he would have no problem with closing Goiffon as his crew <br />comes from the other direction. He also commented that the County may appreciate the <br />closing of that road. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if the City could block off the road without vacating it. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated that if the Church was looking at a proposed expansion the <br />City would need to vacate the road and said that as long as police and fire have no issue <br />with it the easiest thing to do would be to vacate the right-of-way. <br /> <br />City Engineer Peterson indicated he did not know of any utilities in the road. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated that bringing water downtown is to be discussed in <br />August during the budget discussions for 2003. She then said that a deciding filetor for <br />her in approving water to the downtown area would be a Church expansion. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers suggested checking with the County to make sure it <br />does not have an interest in using Goiffon. <br /> <br />Page 3 of23 <br />
