<br />. . <br /> <br />City ofCenterville <br />CoUJ1Cil Meeting Minutes <br />June 12,2002 <br /> <br />COllllcll Member Travis indicated there would be costs associated with vacating the <br />street. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated there would need to be public hearings and a small cost for <br />documentation but he feels the overall costs would be fuirly nominal for staff time and <br />COllllcll time for the process. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated her only concern is for public safety to make sure the fire <br />department can access the parsonage until the Church expands and it is removed. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated she was not interested in vacating the road <br />lllltll it happens as part of the process of expansion. She then commented that the Church <br />has been told the City is willing to vacate but she is not ready to begin the vacation if the <br />Church does not expand. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra said that knowing the way the traffic is in the area she thinks <br />vacating the street is a safety issue. <br /> <br />COllllcll Member Travis suggested dead-ending the street or barricading it. <br /> <br />COllllcll Member Capra asked what the process would be to temporarily barricade the <br />road. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft indicated it is a City street and the City can do what it wants. He <br />then suggested StaffveriiY with the COllllty that it is not an MSA route. <br /> <br />COllllCn Member Capra asked Ms. Moore-Sykes to check with the COllllty to see if the <br />COllllty had any issues with the City barricading Goiffon Road. <br /> <br />3. Don Anderson <br /> <br />Don Anderson addressed Council and indicated he has lived in Centerville for a portion <br />of a year but has lived in eastern Anoka COllllty for more than 18 years. He then said he <br />has been understudying the City COllllcil to gain fiuniliarity with the City. He further <br />indicated that he has previous experience with serving on COllllcll, the Centennial Lakes <br />Police Commission and many other communities of cities he has lived in. <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson indicated he would like to continue with his public service and he feels he <br />would be an asset on the County Board representing District 6. He then said he plans to <br />me for that seat and pursue the position vigorously. <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson thanked Council for the opportunity to make his announcement for County <br />Board and said he looks forward to the election. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg thanked Mr. Anderson for the information and wished him well <br /> <br />Page 50f23 <br />
