<br />CityofCenlerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />1une 12,2002 <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that the computers are three to four years old with hers being <br />four years old. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if the machine for $2,160 was the server. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson indicated it was. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis indicated the quote was for six machines plus the server and Ms. <br />Moore-Sykes concurred. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if there would only be one printer. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson indicated he does not sell printers but had included one printer in his bid that <br />he bad located at Best Buy. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg commented that the existing hub had four ports. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson agreed and indicated that he would swap it out for a switch that handles data <br />transrer better. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if it was an Ethernet switch. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson indicated it was. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if it would be possible to run fire wire between the two <br />accounting computers if the computers bad two cards. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson indicated it would be preferable to have one Ethernet card in each machine <br />and noted that the transfer of data would be 100 megabytes per second from wherever the <br />data is. He then indicated that the data is to be stored on the server in one location to <br />make it easy to back up. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked if the backup was a small tape drive. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson indicated it was a DVD burner which is the same as a CD Rom burner but <br />holds more data <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked how much more data the DVD would hold. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson indicated it would hold 4 gigabytes. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg asked what happens if the server goes down. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson indicated if the server went down it would need to be brought back up. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg commented that a mirror drive would help with that type of a situation. <br /> <br />Pag\l 11 of23 <br />
