<br />City ofCenterville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />June 12, 2002 <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg noted the proposal included firewall. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson indicated he had included it for in the future when Broadband becomes <br />available. <br /> <br />Mr. Johnson indicated that in putting a quote together with the Microsoft Small Business <br />2000 he did not think the City needed the small business server and noted the main <br />advantage would be e-mail. He then said that the cost difference is minimal but the City <br />could get away with the standard 2000 server. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated the computer situation needed to be fixed <br />right away. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated she would like to have Ms. Moore-Sykes <br />sit down and decide which system she would prefer. She then indicated she would like to <br />recormnend that Council authorize the expenditure of up to $20,000 for computer <br />equipment and noted she would prefer to start with a system that is not out of date when <br />it is purchased. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded by Council Member <br />Travis to authorize the expenditure of UP to $20.000 for the purchase of computer <br />equipment as chosen by Staff with input from interested Council Members. All in <br />favor. Motion carried unanimouslv. <br /> <br />7. Ordinance #4 <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes asked if any Council Members had input on Ordinance #4 before the <br />public hearing is set. <br /> <br />Council directed Staff to schedule the public hearing on Ordinance #4. <br /> <br />8. Proposed Fireworks Ordinance <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett addressed Council and asked that the City adopt the proposed <br />Ordinance as an emergency ordinance in order to assist the fire department with the <br />regulation of the recently legalized fireworks. He then indicated that the other two cities <br />had adopted the ordinance as proposed. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers asked whether the types of fireworks that the City <br />had in the park are considered consumer fireworks. <br /> <br />Fire Chief Bennett indicated that the type of fireworks held at the park require a permit <br />and by law must be done by a licensed pyrotechnic and the law requires insurance. <br /> <br />Page 14 of23 <br />
