City ofCenterville
Council Meet:ing Minutes
June 12, 2002

Council Member Nelson indicated that the EDC had come up with five items that it
would work to support and those were the Minnesota Design Team Plans, supporting
County Road 14 widening, downtown mixed use and revitalization. and soliciting
business members for EDC members.

Council Member Nelson indicated there had been discussion of asking the City
Administrator to have face to face contact with businesses and communicating with the
EDC because they feel they have no connection with the businesses.

Council Member Nelson indicated that the Committee had discussed that the meetings
are held at night and business owners are not available and committee members are not
available to the business owners during the day.

Mayor Swedberg asked if there was a need for a Chamber of Commerce meeting.

Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated she was not in favor of encouraging more
Staff contact with the businesses because Staff is needed elsewhere. She then said that
any time a business wishes to contact the City that is fine but she does not feel that Staff
has the time to solicit contacts.

Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated she is concerned with an advisory
Committee voicing its support of the widening of 14 when Council will be opposing it.

Council Member Nelson indicated she gave the EDC information indicating Council
intended to oppose the widening.

Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated she would like to caution EDC members
from having any conversations with the County that would lead the County to believe
that the City will be supporting the widening.

Council Member Capra asked that the comments of Council be emailed to the
Committee. Council Member Nelson indicated she would provide the information to the
EDC.

Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated she feh that Council Members do a good
job of attending various functions and noted that there are a variety of functions within
the City that need attending and not every Council Member can be at every function. She
also noted that if three or more Council Members are at an event the event would need to
be posted.

Council Member Broussard Vickers indicated that the Parks and Recreation Committee
had made some recommendations to Council concerning the use of the ball fields for two
weekends and she did not see that on Council's agenda for approval.

Council agreed that there was no authorization necessary since no costs were involved.

Page 21 of23
