<br />III COMPENSATION. <br /> <br />A. Amount. Employees of the City shall be compensated <br />according to the schedule established by the City <br />Council. An increase in pay to the next higher step <br />of a pay range shall be made on the annual anniversary <br />date of hire, for employees not at the top step. This <br />shall remain until such time as there may be a <br />reclassification or promotion. In that case, the new <br />date for step changes shall be on the anniversary of <br />the effective date of the reclassification/promotion. <br />The wages or salary so established is the total <br />remuneration for employment; however, the City may <br />provide allowances for uniforms and cars, and <br />reimbursement for official travel, insurance, or other <br />expenses incurred in the conduct of official business <br />in accordance with City policy. <br /> <br />B. Base Pay. The pay schedule established by the City <br />Council establishes the base pay for each position. <br />Compensation for overtime, benefits, longevity, shift <br />differentials, and other items are in addition to the <br />base pay. For the purpose of calculating overtime for <br />police officers, base pay shall include detective pay <br />as well as longevity or performance pay, whichever is <br />applicable. <br /> <br />C. Comparable Worth. Employee compensation shall be <br />based, to the extent practicable, on the value of work <br />measured by the skill, effort, responsibility, and <br />working conditions normally required in the performance <br />of the work. <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />Paydays. <br />alternate <br />employees <br />day. <br /> <br />Employees normally shall be paid bi-weekly on <br />Thursdays. The performance of City <br />employees shall be evaluated at least annually for the <br />purpose of communicating strengths and weaknesses to <br />the employee, as they relate to fulfilling the position <br />duties and responsibilities. <br /> <br />III-I <br />
