Internet Use Policy The Internet is a useful <br />information and communication tool that is <br />provided to City of Shakopee employees in order to <br />conduct City-related business. Internet access <br />provides the ability to communicate with City and <br />non-City resources, as well as providing access to <br />databases for research and informational purposes. <br /> <br />This policy applies to all elected officials, <br />employees, contractors, volunteers, and other <br />agents of the City who are provided Internet <br />access through the City of Shakopee. This policy <br />is intended to prevent the misuse of Internet <br />access, especially as it relates to the following <br />unacceptable practices: <br /> <br />· Downloading files that contain viruses that may <br />contaminate City information systems and <br />databases; <br /> <br />. Accessing improper or objectionable material <br />unless such access is directly related to a <br />City purpose (e.g. police investigations, <br />prosecutions); <br /> <br />· Using work time to access, send or receive non- <br />work related information, or to "surf" the <br />Internet; <br /> <br />· Misrepresenting an individual's opinion as City <br />policy. <br /> <br />a.
