<br />1. All elected officials, employees, <br />contractors, volunteers and others who have <br />access to the Internet are required to review <br />this policy, and sign the accompanying <br />statement that they have read, and <br />understand, the policy. <br /> <br />2. Authorized users of the Internet will be <br />given a "login" name that allows access to <br />the Internet through the City's network. <br />Users will then provide a personalized <br />password. Any and all Internet activity will <br />be attributed to the login name of the <br />originating user. <br /> <br />3. The City reserves the right, with the City <br />Administrator's approval, to monitor Internet <br />activity at any time, with or without notice <br />to users. The use of a system "log on" <br />and/or password does not, and should not, <br />convey any expectation of privacy to the <br />user. <br /> <br />4. No user shall divulge his/her network <br />password. Any person with knowledge of any <br />password not their own shall immediately <br />report it to their supervisor. The supervisor <br />shall then take any steps necessary to secure <br />the network. <br /> <br />5. Failure to log out of the network for <br />prolonged periods of time can result in <br />unauthorized users accessing the Internet, <br />and logging on to unauthorized sites using <br />the original user's login name. For that <br />reason, If a user knows that he/she will be <br />away from their computer for longer than <br />thirty (30) minutes, he/she will be required <br />to log out of the network. <br /> <br />6. No user shall attempt any unauthorized access <br />to the system. Any user found to have <br />engaged in unauthorized access of the <br />Internet may be subject to disciplinary <br />action up to and including termination. <br /> <br />7. Incidental and occasional personal use of the <br />Internet will be permitted outside of normal <br />work hours.
