Use of City Property. <br /> <br />1. City Property. No employee shall negligently <br />lose, damage, or waste City property. No employee <br />shall use City property for anything other than <br />City work without the prior explicit permission of <br />the employee's department head. No employee shall <br />access the files of an employee outside his or her <br />department, unless specifically authorized by a <br />department head. <br /> <br />2. Ci ty Telephones. Telephones are for City <br />business. Any personal telephone calls should be <br />infrequent and brief. Employees in City Hall <br />shall fill out a long distance telephone log for <br />each long distance telephone call made, and submit <br />the log to the Finance Department. Personal long <br />distance telephone calls may be made, provided <br />they are made on a collect or calling card basis <br />during a scheduled break period, or if <br />specifically authorized otherwise by the <br />department head. <br /> <br />3 . Ci ty Vehicles. Ci ty vehicles may be used for <br />official business only, although they may be used <br />for meals while the employee is otherwise driving <br />about on City business. The Police Chief, the <br />Fire Chief, and one other Fire Department official <br />may use a City vehicle for commuting as well as <br />for official City business, so that they have a <br />vehicle available for emergency responses. <br /> <br />4. City Name. No employee may use the employee's job <br />title or the City name to further personal or <br />political goals. Job titles and reference to the <br />City may be used only for official City business. <br />Promises on behalf of the City may not be made <br />without the prior approval of the employee's <br />department head.
