<br />The regularly scheduled work week for full-time, non-supervisory employees is <br />eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week, including rest periods and <br />excluding lunch breaks periods. <br /> <br />The regularly scheduled work week for part-time non-supervisory employees is <br />less than forty (40) hours per week, including rest periods and excluding lunch <br />breaks periods. <br /> <br />6-4 Work Rest Breaks <br /> <br />1 Meal Break - Employees workinq eiqht or more consecutive hours will <br />be authorized an unpaid meal break. Anv meal period of less then <br />twenty minutes will not be deducted from the hours an employee <br />works. <br />2 Rest Break - When working under conditions where the use of a rest <br />break is practical, employees will be allowed to take a fifteen-minute <br />break approximately midway through each four-hour shift. The time of <br />the break is subject to the approval of the supervisor. Unused rest <br />breaks may not be accumulated, nor may they be used for any <br />purpose other than a mid-shift rest period. Unused rest breaks may <br />not be used to leave work earlv. <br /> <br />6-5 Job Sharing <br /> <br />Job sharing will be considered on an individual basis at an employee's request. <br />Arrangement should be made with the immediate supervisor. Any agreement <br />between an employee and supervisor is subject to approval by the Council. <br /> <br />6-6 Compensatory Time/Overtime <br /> <br />The City recognizes some employees may be required to work extra hours in <br />emergency situations and during peak workload periods. The scheduling and <br />payment of compensatory time or overtime will be in accordance with the <br />applicable Fair Labor Standards Act and the following: <br /> <br />A. Full-time Employees - Full-time non-exempt employees shall be <br />compensated for work their supervisor requires them to undertake <br />in excess of forty hours per week. Hours taken as sick leave, <br />vacation leave, or holidays are considered hours worked. The <br />compensation shall be in cash or compensatory time at one and <br />one-half times their regular rate of pay. Although the employee <br />generally may choose whether to receive the cash or compensatory <br />time, the City Administrator may override the employee's choice. <br /> <br />B. Part-time Employees - Part-time non-exempt employees shall be <br />compensated for work their supervisor requires them to undertake <br />
