<br />3 When the employee's presence would jeopardize the health of <br />other employees by exposing them to contagious disease; <br /> <br />4 What a member of the employee's immediate family is seriously <br />ill or injured, requiring the employee's attendance. Immediate <br />family is defined as spouse, parents, children, siblings, <br />stepparents, stepchildren, or legal guardian). The City may <br />require confirmation of the necessity of attending the family <br />member by the physician. <br /> <br />9-2 Accrual <br /> <br />Amount. All reqular employees who reqularly work 30 or more hours per week <br />shall be entitled to sick leaye with pay. This leaye shall accrue at the rate of one <br />day for each calendar month of full-time service or maior fraction thereof. An <br />employee may accumulate no more than 120 days or 960 hours. Any additional <br />accumulation of sick leave will be banked fDr emergencies only. Emergencies <br />are defined as extendod illnesses lasting moFO than 120 sick days. In this C3SO, <br />the employee m3Y use the banked sick leave 3iter the 120 days has p3St. <br /> <br />9-3 Requirements <br /> <br />1. Sick leave shall not be granted until it is earned. <br /> <br />2. Sick leave is accrued at the end of a completed year of service to be used <br />during the following year. <br /> <br />3. In the event of termination, and upon leavinq in qood standinq. half of the <br />employee's accrued sick leave will NG+ be paid to the employee. <br />Unionized ees get Y, upon leaving in good standing. <br />4. Employees shall report the reason for their absence as soon as practical <br />to their supervisor (employees failing to give such notice will be subject to <br />discipline). <br /> <br />5. Employees shall keep their supervisor informed as to the status of their <br />condition. A physician's statement may be required for absences of three <br />or more consecutive days, or for frequent absences, or absences that <br />follow a pattern (such as the same day of the week, connecting to a <br />holiday, etc) <br /> <br />6. Sick leave may be taken in increments of one hour or more. <br />7. The rate of sick pay will be the employee's regular rate of pay in effect on <br />the date immediately preceding the employee's sick leave. <br />
