<br />Assignment of work duties and scheduling work is the responsibility ofthe department <br />head subject to the approval of the City Administrator. It is recognized that jobs may <br />change over time to respond to the changing needs of the organization. Job descriptions <br />will be prepared for each individual job class in the City. These descriptions will <br />normally be updated annually or more often as duties or assignments change. <br /> <br />10.2 Classification of Job Duties <br /> <br />A. The classification of job duties shall be the responsibility of the City Administrator, <br />subject to review of the City Council. Assignment of job titles, establishment of <br />minimum qualifications, and the maintenance of job descriptions and related records shall <br />be the responsibility of the City Administrator. <br /> <br />B. Whenever a job has changed sufficiently so that it can no longer be described <br />adequately by the existing job description, the City Administrator shall take appropriate <br />action which could involve: reclassifYing the job to another existing job class, creating a <br />new job class, updating the job description, restructuring the job to fit an established or <br />proposed class, or other action as deemed appropriate. <br /> <br />C. Each job description should contain the phrase "and other duties as required" so it is <br />clearly understood that job assignments may change at any time based on the needs of the <br />organization. <br /> <br />Article 11 <br /> <br />Leaves of Absence <br /> <br />The City recognizes that there are times when employees must be absent from work. The <br />following describes the types ofleaves of absences available through the City and policies <br />related to the leave. <br /> <br />11.1 Funeral Leave <br /> <br />A. Employees shall be allowed up to three (3) consecutive working days, with pay, as <br />funeral leave upon the death of an immediate family member. This paid leave will not be <br />deducted from the employee's vacation or sick leave balance. Immediate family is <br />defined as the employee's parents, spouse, children, siblings, or grandparents, or the <br />spouse's parents, or a ward of the employee's household. <br /> <br />B. Employees shall be allowed up to one (I) working day, with pay, for the death of a <br />grandchild, (Revised 6/25/96) the spouse's grandparent or sibling, or the employee's son- <br />in-law or daughter-in-law. This leave will not to be deducted from accrued sick or <br />vacation leave. <br /> <br />C. Employees selected to be pallbearers for a deceased employee ofthe City shall be <br />allowed up to one (I) working day, with pay, as funeral leave. <br />
