<br />D. To be eligible for funeral leave, an employee must attend the funeral. <br /> <br />11.2 Military Leave <br /> <br />A. Minnesota Statutes S 192.26 and 192.261 provide that an employee of any <br />municipality who is a member ofthe National Guard, the Naval Militia, the Officers <br />Reserve Corps, the Naval Reserve, the Marine Corps Reserve or any other reserve <br />component ofthe military or naval forces of the United States, is entitled to a leave of <br />absence without loss of pay, seniority status, efficiency rating, or benefits for the time <br />such employee is engaged in training or active service not exceeding a total of 15 days in <br />any calendar year. <br /> <br />B. The leave of absence is only in the event the employee returns to employment <br />immediately upon being relieved from military or naval service, or is presented prevented <br />(Revised 6/25/96) from returning by physical or mental disability or other cause not the <br />fault of the employee, or is required by the proper authority to continue in military or <br />naval service beyond the 15 day period allowed for the paid leave of absence. <br /> <br />C. Notice shall be given the employer at leave fifteen (15) working days in advance of <br />the requested leave when called to active duty. If any employee has not yet used their <br />fifteen (15) days of paid leave when called to active duty, any unused paid time will be <br />allowed prior to the unpaid leave of absence. <br /> <br />D. Eligibility for continuation of insurance coverage will follow the same procedures as <br />for any terminated or laid-off employee while the employee is on an unpaid leave of <br />absence for active duty. In addition, the leave of absence shall be considered work time <br />for the purposes of vacation and sick leave accrual. <br /> <br />E. Returning reservists have the right to return to their jobs or another job of similar <br />seniority, status, and pay upon completion of active duty in accordance with Minnesota <br />Statutes S 192.261, subd. 2, and 28 U.S.C. Section 2021 and 2024. <br /> <br />11.3 Jury or Witness Duty <br /> <br />When an employee performs jury duty or is subpoenaed as a witness in court or <br />voluntarily serves as a witness in a case in which the City is a party, the employee is <br />entitled to compensation from the City equal to the difference between the regular pay <br />and the amount received as a juror or witness. <br /> <br />11.4 Conference Leave <br /> <br />Any employee who has worked half-time or more for more than twelve (12) consecutive <br />months, may take lmpaid leave for up to a total of sixteen (16) hours during any school <br />
