<br />2-8 Demotion - The chanqe of an employee's status to a position of havinq a <br />lower pay ranqe, rank or qrade, and/or lesser responsibilitv than <br />preYiously held. <br /> <br />2-9 Emplovee -- Exempt - An employee Employees not covered by the <br />provisions of the Federal Fair labor Standards Act. <br /> <br />2-10 Emplovee -- Intermittent -An emplovee who works occasionallv or on- <br />eall for an indefinite time; under the same terms and conditions as a <br />temporary employee. Emplo,'eec who do not have regular set hours but <br />work infr-oquently, er as neoded, to ::Issist during times of high worklead er <br />te cever for vac3tions, illnesses, etc. of other City staff. Intermittent <br />employeec are not eligible for bonefits. <br /> <br />2-11 Emplovee -- Full-Time - An emplovee workinq at lease 40 hours per <br />week who has successfullv completed a required probationary period and <br />serves in a position completely funded in the approved Citv budqet for a <br />!'.liven fiscal vear. Employees who sorvo in Q positions th3t arc normally <br />scheduled for 10 hours or more par weok on a yoar r-ound b3Sis. <br /> <br />2-12 Emplovee -- Non-Exempt - An emplovee Employees coyered by the <br />Federal Fair labor Standards Act. <br /> <br />2.13 Emplovee -- Part-Time - An at will employee workinq less than 40 hours <br />per week who has successfullv completed the required probationary <br />period and who is not eliqible for benefits, other than those mandated bv <br />state or federal law. Employees who cerves in Q position that 3rD norm::lll,' <br />scheduled for Ieee than 10 hours per week on 3 year round basis. <br /> <br />2-14 Emplovee -- Probationary - A period of time at the beqinninq of <br />emplovment (or the beqinninq period of a promotion, transfer) that is <br />desianed as a trial period. The probationary period is also considered a <br />period and is the last part of the selection process. <br /> <br />2-15 Emplovee -- ReQular - An employee who has successfully completed all <br />stages of the selection process including the training period and/or <br />probationary period. <br /> <br />2-16 Emplovee -- Seasonal - A full-time or part-time AA employee whose <br />appointment is limited to a specific season of the year and is emploved <br />under the same terms and conditions as a temporary employee. <br /> <br />2-17 Emplovee -- Temporary - A full-time or part-time emplovee who serves <br />in a position on a temporary basis Appointment to a position on a <br />tempor3rJ basis where no benefit eligibility exists and no credit is given for <br />seniority. <br /> <br />I <br />1_ <br />
