COUNTY STATE AID HIGHWAY 8/14
SUMMARY OF COMMENTS RECEIVED FROM THE PUBLIC AND
RESPONSES TO THE COMMENTS

Washington County, Anoka County, the Cities of Hugo and Lino Lakes, along with their
consultant TKDA, are conducting a study ofthe County State Aid Highway (CSAR) 8/14
corridor between Interstate 35E (I-35E) and Trunk Highway 61 (TH 61).

Four alignment alternatives will be analyzed in the project's preliminary design phase:

140th Street Alignment: Realigning CSAH 8 to connect with TH 61 at l40th Street

l42nd Street Alignment: Realigning CSAH 8 to connect with TH 61 between l40'h Street
and existing CSAH 8

14Sth Street Alignment (Existing): Maintaining the CSAH 8 alignment along its existing
location

147'h Street Alignment: Realigning CSAH 8 to connect with TH 61 at l47'h Street

THE FOLLOWING COMMENTS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED REGARDING ROADWAY
ALIGNMENT ALTERNATIVES:

. 140th Street Alignment:

The alignment will create floodplain impacts and would require a DNR permit if the
alignment crosses Clearwater Creek.

Traffic will be divertedfrom downtown businesses.

Realigning the roadway to the south doesn't make sense since the majority of the traffic on
CSAH 8 travels north on TH 61.

A roadway along this alignment would intersect a popular recreational path that runs along
Fenway Avenue.

The alignment will impact the residential and commercial developments along 14dh Street.

The 14dh alignment should be constructed because it would provide access to the industrial
park south of 14dh Street.

The 14dh Street alignment is impractical.

The 14dh Street alignment is the most logical choice because the Hugo Fire Hall response
team members will have easy and fast access, the industrial area south of 14dh Street will
have access to the freeway, and there are sidewalks in place in front of the Fire Hall.

CSAH 8/14 COMMENTS AND RESPONSES - Updated July 2002

- 1 -
