There were some residents and the previous mayor that were opposed to the trail.
Since then, development is beginning to occur and the cities may now have the
opportunity to develop the trail.

City Administrator Ericson distributed a map pointing out the location of the proposed
trail. He referred to a plan for the Victor Gardens subdivision noting the trails in that
subdivision will go out to the border ofLino Lakes. The City of Hugo would like to
connect those trails with the development in Lino Lakes.

Mayor Swedberg stated this issue bas been discussed many times before and he believes
obtaining a grant may still be poSSIble. He indicated he thinks a trail connection would be
a very good idea.

Councilmember Granger stated the cities need to show how a trail will go over the
freeway. He indicated there are funding options out there to help with the cost of the
trail.

Public Services Director DeGardner stated Lino Lakes does have a designated trail
corridor in the Clearwater Creek development. It was anticipated that it would connect to
Victor Gardens at some point in the future. He stated he believes that the best time to
look at a freeway crossing is when the bridge is reconstructed.

Mayor Bergeson asked if the trail concept should be included in the resolution relating to
CSAH 14.

Public Services Director DeGardner stated the trail crossing has been identified in
discussions with the County and MnDOT.

5
