<br />1M: roo <br />. /~... .~~~J~~~j <br />~, - . ~/~ <br /> <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members <br /> <br />FROM: Kim Stephan <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Economic Development Committee Recommendations <br /> <br />DATE: July 14, 2004 <br /> <br />The Economic Development Committee made the following recommendations for <br />City Council consideration at their July 13, 2004 committee meeting. <br /> <br />Chairperson Burke asked to have a discussion of a newsletter from Hometown <br />Minnesota, Inc. included under Committee Business. Hometown Minnesota, Inc. is <br />offering a workshop on Organizing Main Street for Action: Building a Duwntown <br />Organization. Hometown Minnesota Inc. is a non-profit organization founded by <br />communities active in the old Minnesota Main Street Program. Hometown Minnesota is <br />an advocate for enhancing and revitalizing the heart of small town communities. This <br />workshop is being held on July 29, 2004 in Northfield, Minnesota from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. <br />The cost is $75.00 per community and will cover 1) the spectrum of legal and <br />programmatic organizations for Main Street 2) Financial and Board Details; and 3) how <br />to play to your community's strengths in defining your Main Street or downtown <br />program. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Chairperson Burke, seconded by Committee Member Smith to <br />request from City Council funds uot to exceed $75.00 for EDC Members to attend <br />the above mentioned workshop. All in favor. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. John Fischbach sent a letter expressing interest in joining the Economic <br />Development Committee. Chairperson Burke will extend an invitation to Mr. Fischbach <br />to attend the next EDC meeting. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Chairperson Burke, seconded by Committee Member Rehbine <br />to recommend to City Council the appointment of Mr. John Fischbach to the <br />Centerville Economic Development Committee. AIl in favor. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />
