<br />TENTS AND OTHER MEMBRANE STRUCTURES <br /> <br />2406.5 Smoking. Smoking shall not be permitted in tents or air <br />upported strUctures. Approved "No Smoking" signs shall be <br />conspicuously posted in accordance with Section 310. <br /> <br />. 2406.6 Open or exposed flame. Open flame or other devices <br />emitting flame. fire or heat or any flammable or combustible <br />liquids. gas. charcoal or other cooking device or any other un- <br />approved devices shall not be permitted inside or located <br />within 20 feet(6096 rom) of the tent, air-supported. air-inflated <br />or tensioned membrane structures while open to the public un- <br />less approved by the code official. <br /> <br />2406.7 fireworks. Fireworks shall not be used within 100 feet <br />(30 480 rom) of tents. air-supported. air-inflated or tensioned <br />membrane.structures. <br /> <br />2406.8 .Spot lighting. Spot or effect lighting shall only be by <br />electricity. and all combustible construction located within 6 <br />feet (1829 =) of such equipment shall be protected with ap- <br />proved noncombustible insulation not less than 9.25 inches <br />(235 rom) thick. <br /> <br />2406.9 Safety film. Motion pictures shall not be displayed in <br />tents. air-supporied. air-inflated or tensioned membrane struc- <br />tures unless the motion picture film is safety film. <br /> <br />2406.10 Clearance. There shall be a minimum clearance of at. .. <br />least 3 feet (914 mm) between the fabric envelope and all con- <br />tents located inside the air-supported structure. <br /> <br />SECTION 2407 <br />FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND OTHER FIRE <br />PROTECTION EQUIPMENT <br /> <br />2407.1 Portable lire extinguisheI'1l. Fire extinguishers shall be <br />provided as required by Section 906. . <br /> <br />2407.2 FIre protection equipment. Fire hose lines: water sup- <br />plies and other auxiliary fire equipment shall be maintained at <br />the site in such numbers and sizes as required by the code offi- <br />cial. <br /> <br />SECTION 2408 <br />OCCUPANT LOAD <br /> <br />2408.1 Occupant load factors. The occupant load allowed in <br />an assembly structure. or portion thereof, shall be determined <br />in accordance with Chapter 10. <br /> <br />SECTION 2409 <br />SEATING <br /> <br />2409.1 Seating arrangements, Seating in tents, air-supported, <br />air-inflated or tensioned membrane structures, temporary <br />membrane structures or canopies shall be in accordance with <br />Chapter 10. <br /> <br />SECTION 2410 <br />MEANS OF EGRESS <br /> <br />2410.1 Distribution, Exits shall be spaced at approximately <br />equal intervals around the perimeter of the tent, air-supported, <br />air-inflated or tensioned membrane structure, temporary mem- <br /> <br />2000 INTERNATIONAL FIRE COOEIil <br /> <br />2406.5 - 2410.5 <br /> <br />brane structure. or canopy. and shall be located such that all <br />points are 100 feet (30 480 rom) or less from an exit. <br /> <br />2410.2 Number. Tents. canopies, air-snpported. air-inflated or <br />tensioned membrane structures, temporary membrane struc- <br />tures or usable portion thereof shall have at least one exit and <br />not less than the number of exits required by Table 2410.2. The <br />widths of means of egress required by Table 2410.2 shall be di- . <br />vided approximately equally among the separate means of <br />egress. When the occupant load exceeds 3,000. the. total widthofmeans of egress in <br />inches shan not be less than the total occupant load multiplied by O.tinches <br />per person. <br />2410.3 Exit opeuings. Exit openings from tents shall remain <br />open unless covered by a flame-resistant curtain. The curtain <br />shall comply with the follOwing reljclrements: <br /> <br />1. Curtains shall be free sliding on a metal support. The <br />support shall be a minlmum of' 80 inches (2032 rom) <br />above the floor level at the exit. The curtains shall be so <br />arranged that. when open, no part of the curtain'obstructs <br />the exit. <br />2. Curtains shall be of a color, or colors, that contrasts with <br />the color of the tent. <br />2410.4 Doors. Exit doors shall swing in the direction of exit <br />travel. To avoid hazardous air and pressure loss. such doors <br />shall be automatic-closing against operating pressUres. Open- <br />ing force at the door edge shall not exceed 15 pounds (7 kg). <br /> <br />2410.5 Aisle. The width of aisles without fixed seating shall be <br />in accordance with the following: <br /> <br />1. In areas serving employees only. the minlmum aisle <br />width shall be 24 inches (610 rom) but not less than the <br />width required by the number of employees served. <br /> <br />2. In public areas, smooth-sUIfaced, 'unobstructed aisles <br />having a minimum width of not less than 44 inches (1118 <br />rom) shall be provided from seating areas, and aisles <br />shall be progressively increased in width to provide,atall <br />points. not less than 1 foot (305 =) of aisle width for <br />each 50 persons served by such aisle ai that point. <br /> <br />207 <br />
