<br />TENTS #jD OTHER MEMBRANE STRUCTURES <br /> <br />supported, air-inflated or tensioned membrane structures, tem- <br />porary membrane structures or canopies. <br /> <br />SECTION 2414 <br />LIQUID- AND GAS-FUELED VEHICLES <br /> <br />2414.1 Display ofmotor-vehides:Uquid-and gas.fueled vehi- <br />cles and equipment used for display within tents, air-supported, <br />air-inflated or tensioned membrane structures, temporary <br />membrane structures or canopies shall be in accordance with <br />this section. <br /> <br />2414.2 Batteries. Batteries'sball be disconnected in an appro- <br />priate manner. <br /> <br />2414.3 Fuel systems. Fueling vehicles or equipment shall not <br />be fueled or defueled within the building. <br /> <br />2414.3.1 Quantity limit. Fuel in the fuel tank shall not ex- <br />ceed one-quarter of the tank capacity or 5 gallons (19 L), <br />whichever is less. ' <br /> <br />2414.3.2 Inspection. Fuel systems shall be inspected for <br />leaks. <br /> <br />2414.3.3 Closure. Fuel tank opeuing~ sball be locked and <br />sealed to prevent the escape of vapors. <br /> <br />2414.4 Location. The location of vehicles or equipment shall <br />not obstruct means of egress. <br /> <br />2414.4.1 Places of assenlbly. When a compressed natural <br />gas (CNO) or liquefied petroleum gas (LP) powered vehicle <br />is parked inside a place of assembly, all the following condi. <br />tions ,hall be met: <br /> <br />1. The quarter-turn shutoff valve or other shutoff valve <br />on the outlet of the CNG or LP.gas container shall be <br />clo,ed and the engine shall be operated until it stops. <br />Valves shall remain closed while the vehicle is in- <br />doors. <br /> <br />2. The hot lead of the battery _shall be disconnected. <br /> <br />3. Dual-fuel vehicles equipped to operaie on gasoline <br />andCNG or LP-gas shall comply with this section and <br />Sections 2414.2 through 2414.5.3 for gasoline-pow- <br />ered vehicles. - <br /> <br />2414.5 Competitions and demons~ations. Liquid- and gas- <br />fueled vehicles and eqUipment used for competition or demon- <br />" stration within a tent, air-supported, air-inflated or tensioned <br />membrane structure, temporary membrane structure or canopy <br />shall comply with Sections 2414.5.1 through 2414.5.3. <br /> <br />2414.5.1 Fuel storage. Fuel for vehicles or equipment ,hall <br />be stored in approved containers in an approved location <br />outside of the structure. <br />- . - <br />2414.5.2 Fueling. Refueling ,hall be performed outside of <br />the structure in accordance with Section 2413.3. <br /> <br />2414.5.3 Spills. Fuel spills shall be cleaned up immediately. <br /> <br />SECTION 2415 <br />GENERATORS <br /> <br />2415.1 Separation. Generators and other internal combustion <br />power sources shall be separated from lents, air-supported, air- <br /> <br />2000 INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE<H> <br /> <br />2414 - 2417.2 <br /> <br />inflated or tensioned membrane structures, temporary mem- <br />brane structures or canopies by a minimum of 20 fe'?t (6096 <br />rom) and shall be isolated from contact with the public by fenc- <br />ing, enclosure or other approved means. <br /> <br />SECTION 2416 <br />STANDBY PERSONNEL <br /> <br />2416.1 Crowd managers. When, in the opinion of the code of- <br />ficial, it is essential for public safety in a place of assembly or <br />any other place where people congregate, because of the num- <br />ber of persons. or the nature of the perfonnance, exhibition, <br />display, contest or activity, the owner, agent or lessee shall em- <br />ploy one or more qualified persons, as required and approved, <br />to remain on duty during the times such places are open to the <br />public, or when such activity is being conducted. <br /> <br />Before each performance or the ,tart of such activity, <br />standby personnel shall keep diligent walth for fires during the <br />time such place is open to the public or such aClivity is being <br />conducted and take prompt, measures for extinguishment of <br />fires that occur and assist in,the evacuation of the public from <br />the structure. i <br />- , <br />There shall be trained crowd managers or crowdmanager su- <br />pervisors at a ratio of one crowd managerfsupervisor for every <br />250 occupants, as approved. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />SECTION 2417 <br />HOUSEKEEPING <br /> <br />2417.1 Vegetation removal. Combustible'vegetation shall be <br />removed from the area occupied by a tent, air-supported. air-in- <br />flated or tensioned membrane strocture, temporary membrane <br />stroctore or canopy and from areas within 3D feet (9144 rom) of <br />such structures. - <br /> <br />2417.2 Waste material. The floor surface inside tents, air-sup- <br />ported, air-inflated or tensioned membrane structures, tempo- <br />rary membrane structures or canopies and the grounds outside <br />and within a 3D-foot (9144 rom) perimeter shall be kept clearof <br />combustible waste. Such waste shall be stored in approved con- <br />tainers until removed from the premises. <br /> <br />209 <br />
