Council Member Capra
questioned whether the tournament would be a breakeven event. Chair DeVine stated
that the type of .last year's tournament was a breakeven event, however, this Regional
Tournament would be different due to the fact that the City would not have to advertise to
recruit teams, pay for the softballs, have the opportunity to charge admission, parking and
concessions. Committee Member Peil stated that last year's set-up would continue to be
used, however, securing the use of St. Genevieve's property would be essential for
parking, especially if the tournament is secured. Council Member Capra stated a scenario
in regards to St. Genevieve's plans to either to construct a new building on their 15 acres
or add on an addition. What effect this would have on the Festival. Chair DeVine stated
that events would have to be tailored to Church's services and securing parking facilities.
The Chair stated that St. Genevieve's plan may affect the Festival in upcoming years;
however, it was not anticipated to have an affect on this years events. Chair DeVine
stated that the one (I) item that is in common with both the Church and the Festival was
that portion of property used for parking.
