<br />February 21, 2001 <br />Fete des Lacs Festival Committee Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />those present an idea of how the Committee works prior to Council Members departing. <br />Chair De Vine stated that he would be skipping over the parade sub-committee. <br /> <br />1. Beach Party <br /> <br />Committee Member Peil stated that she had contacted Mr. Steve Ghizoni and he had <br />several suggestions for events in place of the carnival. Committee Member Peil stated <br />that she would be re-scheduling the meeting some time next month. Chair DeVine stated <br />that he also spoke with Mr. Ghizoni and that he had a conflict with the previous meeting <br />and this evening's meeting but would try and participate in the next meeting. Chair <br />DeVine stated that Mr. Ghizoni was eager in assisting in the carnival planning stages. <br />Committee Member Peil stated that a budget has not been drafted for the Beach Party to <br />date. Committee Member Peil stated that she is also on the raffle sub-committee and <br />pending approval from the Lions, a branch of the Lion's Club which are made up of all <br />women that will take over this item that will be take place throughout this event that will <br />take place during the dance or prior to and have more events take place under the tent. <br />Council Member Capra questioned whether a raffle took place last year. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra stated that recently the Scouts organization had a beach party <br />where a DJ. was present. Council Member Capra suggested a kids dance in the <br />afternoon and stated that the DJ. was very reasonable charging $330. Council Member <br />Capra stated that the DJ.was from Total Entertainment. Committee Member Peil stated <br />that Committee Member Travis is on the teen-dance sub-committee. Chair DeVine stated <br />that he has had several discussions with Committee Member Travis regarding this item <br />and scheduling of same. Discussion has been to have the teen dance on Friday evening <br />prior to the adult dance on Saturday. Discussion has taken place in having a radio station <br />sponsor the dance. However, Friday nights are Waterworks' "16 and older to party" <br />night. Committee Member Travis stated that she had spoke with Mr. DeFoe in regards to <br />same and he stated his willingness to help the Festival out or coordinate efforts. <br />Committee Member Travis stated her unwillingness to compete with local businesses. <br />Committee Member Travis suggested the possibility of the Festival giving discounted <br />tickets for Waterworks patrons the Friday evening. Chair DeVine stated that the sub- <br />committee would continue planning a teen dance. <br /> <br />2. Parking <br /> <br />Securing parking from Mr. Henry Cardinal and St. Genevieve's Church as the Festival <br />nears pending the softball tournament. Mr. March stated that the Hunter's Crossing <br />development would not have a lot of homes completed by August and use of the street <br />and cui de sac could be an option. <br /> <br />3. Fund Raising <br /> <br />Chair DeVine stated that Committee Member Peil and Committee Member Travis needed <br />to meet prior to the next meeting to review letters forwarded last year. Chair DeVine <br />stated that he had a suggestion of doing "a fund raising package", free entrance into the <br />parade, street dance, events, booths, etc. Chair DeVine requested that he be included in <br />the meeting regarding sponsorship letters. <br /> <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />
