<br />Aprilll,2001 <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Mr. Sweeney did not comment on how often the newsletter should be mailed but <br />reiterated he would like to see it independently run. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson commented that when the newsletter first started it was <br />reviewed at the Council level and Staff was drafting it. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked Mr. March to forward Mr. Sweeney's comments <br />concerning the newsletter to the Communications Ad Hoc Committee. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg stated that his capacity regarding the newsletter has been acting as a <br />copy editor. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra stated she feels that if the newsletter comes from the City that <br />Council has a responsibility to review same prior to printing because Council is <br />responsible for the content. <br /> <br />Mr. DeVine questioned whether the newsletter is paid for by advertising. Council <br />Member Nelson stated that the advertising does not pay for the entire newsletter. Mr. <br />March concurred. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers commented that when Council decided to have a <br />newsletter, it was hoped that it would become close to self-sufficient over time. <br /> <br />Mr. Sweeney stated he felt Council should have input, but not complete control of the <br />content ofthe newsletter. <br /> <br />Mr. March stated he felt that the City pays for the newsletter and should be able to use it <br />as an avenue to get accurate information to the residents. He then noted that there are <br />two newspapers covering the City and its Council meetings that should provide ample <br />independent reporting. Mr. March suggested that an editorial page be added to the <br />newsletter for resident comments and concerns. <br /> <br />council Member Nelson stated she felt that one (1) of the reasons for putting more <br />money into the newsletter was to have an avenue where Council could give information <br />to residents. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded bv Council Member <br />Nelson to close the Board of Review public hearinl!. All in favor. Motion carried <br />unanimouslv. <br /> <br />Mr. Dagostino noted that Mr. Barrett had contacted him early in the afternoon and did not <br />leave a telephone number to be called back. He stated that if he had left a number he <br />would not have had to come to the meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Dagostino noted Mr. Barett's property needs to be reviewed and an appointment was <br />arranged for Friday, April 13, 2001.
