Ms. Wilcox <br />stated that Trish, Media Junction, thought that the City was already set up to accept credit <br />cards. The Committee was unsure of this capability. <br /> <br />Ms. Wilcox felt that an area that the Committee could expand on would be the public <br />safety section, such as DARE, neighborhood watch groups, contact information, etc. Ms. <br />Wilcox suggested the addition of Council term information and telephone numbers. Ms. <br />Wilcox stated that Council minutes and agendas could be archived in PDF format. Ms. <br />Wilcox stated that if the City was set up with an Administrative Update feature it could <br />be done at City Hall. City Staff would need to create the database and be in charge of <br />updates. Ms. Wilcox stated that some programming would be involved along with staff <br />training prior to uploading information to the Internet. Chair Brenner questioned the cost <br />involved in same. Ms. Jesi Arola stated that it would need to be determined the sections <br />of the site that would encompass this service, and same would determine cost. <br />Committee Members Fairbrother and Abrahamson questioned the cost of just providing <br />this service to the Council section. Ms. Jesi Arola stated that he had no idea and felt <br />uncomfortable throwing out a figure. Ms. Wilcox stated that she could ascertain that <br />information from the programmer and forward same to the Committee. Ms. Wilcox <br />stated that the programmer charges $120/hour, however, Media Junction has been giving <br />the City a reduced rate. Discussion ensued in regards to updating the Council section and <br />the newsletter section in this fashion. Chair Brenner stated that currently the City is no <br />longer completing a newsletter. Ms. Wilcox suggested that if and when the City chose to <br />formulate another newsletter, residents could be polled to whether they desired to receive <br />it electronically versus U.S. Postal Service. Ms. Jesi Arola stated that the City could do <br />this if an Administrative function was set-up for this section. <br /> <br />Chair Brenner questioned the amount of hits the City site receives per month. Ms. Jesi <br />Arola stated that if you go on-line, go to centervillernn.comlreports. Ms. Jesi Arola <br />explained that this would give you the break down of hits, users, time spent, where they <br />came from, days and times of where they came from. Ms. Wilcox stated that if someone <br />has a user name and password they would have access to this information on-line. Ms. <br />Wilcox stated that some changes needed to be made to statistics page. Discussion ensued <br />regarding the design to sketch and the date of same. Chair Brenner stated that item could <br />be updated more thoroughly. Media Junction's main suggestions were that someone <br />needed to be responsible for content and regular updates. Chair Brenner questioned the <br />maximum amount of space that could be utilized for the City's web site. Ms. Wilcox <br />stated that Media Junction has a flat rate for all participants and do not charge for space. <br />Chair Brenner stated that the Committee is currently researching Document Imaging <br />Software and would this information be usable. Ms. Jesi Arola stated that these kinds of <br />documents would be considered graphics and not text. Graphics would need to be <br />extremely large for individuals to read clearly. Ms. Wilcox stated that if the minutes are <br />in Word they could be e-mailed and used that way. Committee Member Abrahamson <br />questioned whether chat rooms would be a possible addition to the current site. Ms. <br />Wilcox stated that it may be a possibility and reported that they have completed a bulletin <br />board recently for another customer. It was felt that real-time chat would be an enormous <br />amount of programming, however, it could be a possibility. Ms. Wilcox stated that she <br />would provide information regarding both options. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Committee Member Fairbrother questioned the amount of time spent on the City's web <br />site.
