<br />May 21, 2001 <br />Fete des Lacs Festival Committee Meeting Miriutes <br />suggested that events should be included in the same mailing. Committee <br />Member Peil stated that an additional page would increase the postage per mailing <br />to $.55. Consensus was to include the flyer. Chair DeVine questioned whether <br />all residents in the City would receive this mailing. Committee Member Peil <br />stated only those individuals that have participated in the past; however, she was <br />open to suggestions. Chair De Vine stated that a second letter should be available <br />in early June. Committee Member Peil suggested that the beginning of July <br />would be better due to the date of the mailing. <br /> <br />Committee Member Peil stated that nothing has been done regarding this item. <br />Chair DeVine stated that he would contact Father Fitzgerald to ascertain the times <br />that the Church Council meets and forward that information to Committee <br />Member Peil. Committee Member Sweeney questioned whether Committee <br />Member Peil had given any additional thought to the idea of coupons. Committee <br />Member Peil questioned whether Committee Member Sweeney was asking about <br />the coupons that went with the buttons. Committee Member Sweeney stated that <br />he and Chair De Vine had met for lunch and discussed local business participate in <br />a buy one/get one free type offers rather than those same business <br />donating/sponsoring toward the event. It was felt that the participation in this <br />type of advertising/promoting would be more received by smaller, local <br />businesses. Committee Member Sweeney stated that it would be available on a <br />one (I) page, 8 Y, x 11 sheet of paper that then would be sold for $5. Committee <br />Member Sweeney stated the Kelly's Komer had expressed an interest in <br />participating in same. Consensus was that Committee Members would approach <br />local businesses to ascertain their participation in this item. <br /> <br />5. Main Stage. Volunteers. Fireworks & Operations (Committee Member Terry <br />Sweeney) <br /> <br />Committee Member Sweeney stated that all acts are committed with the exception <br />of the Fire and Police Departments. It was brought to the Chair's attention that <br />Kids Dance had been booked for approximately two (2) hours on Saturday by a <br />resident. Committee Member Sweeney stated that the entire day had previously <br />been committed. Committee Member Sweeney stated that he would Gontact Ms. <br />Capra to ascertain whether a contract had be signed with Kids Dance and whether <br />they were available for an alternative day due to the already scheduled events that <br />would be taking place under the tent on Saturday that had been previously <br />contacted for. Chair DeVine suggested having karoke available Saturday evening <br />prior to the band. Chair DeVine stated that he had spoke with the woman who <br />operates the karoke at Kelly's Komer to ascertain availability, etc. <br /> <br />Committee Member Sweeney stated that the volunteer postcard/flyer would be <br />included in the mailing. <br /> <br />Mr. Cordel reviewed the submitted proposal from the Amateur Radio Operators to <br />provide radio communications for the parade and fireworks elevating the need for <br />walkie-talkies. Mr. Cordel stated that the communications could be directly <br />relayed to the police and fire departments, local ambulance service, members of <br />the Committee, fireworks and parking.
