pulled prior to Council reviewing it. Mr. Porter explained that additional information had
surfuced after the motion was made. The Committee wanted to validate that information
before the Council acted on it. The information that had surfaced was the expense to
construct a soccer field on the church property, renting the property from the Church and
what type of involvement/agreement the City has with the Centennial Soccer Club. Mr.
Peterson explained that the Soccer Club has not donated an)1hing (monetarily or
voluntarily) to the City, and therefore, can't really say much about the fields or the
condition of the fields. Mr. Peterson also commented that to relocate the fencing and
then turn around and relocate it back, would be very costly and time consumiog. He
explained that his original motion was to try to make at least one of the fields (softball vs.
soccer) regulation size standards. Currently, neither the softball nor the soccer fields are
of regulation standards. He would like to see at least one of them brought within
regulation. Mr. Peterson also mentioned that if the softball fields were made to be within
regulation standards, more tournaments could be offered, which in turn would generate
more money. Additionally, tournaments would be a great source of income for the
concession shelter and the concession shelter would be an added attraction for the
tournaments. As far as the soccer fields go, both could be made into "Ul 0" (youth under
age 10) fields. He is positive two (2) UtO fields will fit into the same location. Mr. Lee
commented that if the Parks and Recreation Committee is looking to invest a substantial
amount of money into this park this year, they should try to make it as useable as
possible. Mr. Walter expressed his concern over loosing an adult soccer field. Ms. Peil
agreed with Mr. Peterson and Mr. Lee that the Committee should make the softball field
regulation standard, usable by adults, to help generate income. To have two (2) Ul 0
soccer fields would be the best use of the area The following motion was amended as
follows:

Motion by Mr. Peterson, seconded by Mr. LeBlanc to recommend to City Council to
move the backstop on field #2, and the outfield fencing on field #3, at Laurie
LaMotte Memorial Park, per USSSA standards and requirements, with an amount
not to exceed 53500.00. Also to establish another UtO soccer field per Soccer
Association requirements. Porter, DeVine, Peterson, Peil, Lee - aye. Walter- nay.
Motion carried.

Lions Concession Stand
The Parks and Recreation Committee elected to no longer refer to the concession shelter
as the "Lions" Concession Stand. Since the Lions Club will not be funding the shelter, it
should no longer be referred to as the ''Lions Concession Stand". Ms. Lien suggested
tabling this item until the City learns if it is awarded the DNR Grant. If the City is not
awarded the grant, the concession shelter will not be happening this year at all.

Discussion ensued related to Mr. Bisek's proposal for a "temporary concession stand",
and the following motion was made:

3

l _
