The Committee discussed the upcoming Wheels Park Meeting, and how they would like
to conduct the meeting. After discussion, the Committee directed Ms. Lien to do the
following before the meeting:

1. Obtain pictures off the Internet of equipment offered by both vendors, to hang
and distribute at the meeting.
2. Create a voting ballot for the youth to vote on their choice of vendor, and what
pieces of equipment they would like to see.
3. Create some type of "Code of Conduct" that the youth will need to sign,
specifYing responsibiIity, respect, maintenance, ownership, timeframes, and
the fact that the park and/or admittance into the park can be taken away if
abused.

Mr. Lee questioned ifhelmets and pads would be required. Mr. Peterson explained the
requirements of a Tier I Skate Park, and the fact that proper signage is a key component
in requiring helmets and pads, or not. We would need to have a sign that reads "Ride at
Your Own Risk". Mr. Peterson has been in contact with the League of Minnesota Cities
and when we are at the point of constructing signs, he has a contact to help with the
proper verbiage.

The Committee briefly discussed the possibility of a Grand Opening.

McBride Park Timbers and Brush Abutting Pond
Mr. Walter explained he had visited McBride Park and had come to the conclusion that
not all of the timbers will need to be replaced. Approximately 17 will need replacement.
Mr. Peterson had pounded down the nails that were popping out, but it is a temporary fix.
They will pop out again. Mr. Walter explained that because there isn't any type of
support on the outside of the timbers, they are leaning outward due to the amount of
pressure from the sand inside. If dirt were built up around the outside of the timbers it
would keep them from leaning. Mr. LeBlanc commented that maybe the Committee
should consider a more permanent solution. If the Committee just replaces the timbers,
the same thing will happen again in a few years, and the Committee will be looking at the
same problem all over. Mr. Walter feh a more equitable solution would be to spend
approximately $3,000 now to replace the 17 timbers vs. spendiog a substantial amount
more to re-do the entire play area with fibar and concrete. He didn't fuel comfortable
investing a lot of money into an already established park, for a border that already exists.
There are some areas in the City that don't have anything. Even if it means this is just a
temporary fix that buys the Committee five or six years.

Mr. Peterson mentioned there are two (2) benches at McBride Park that are wobbly and
wom He would like to replace them with two (2) benches that are currently in storage at
Public Works. The Committee agreed with the replacement.

L_______

5
