Shoreview Good Neighbor Program <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber read a letter received from the Shoreview Community Center regarding <br />their Good Neighbor Rate. Residents of the City of Centerville are entitled to receive a <br />15% discount on regular rates for seasonal or annual memberships. In return for the <br />discount, Shoreview has requested that the City of Centerville publish a four (4) inch by <br />four (4) inch advertisement provided by them in all City publications for one (1) year. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded bv Council Member <br />Sweeney. to DarticiDate in the Shoreview Good Neighbor Prol!ram bv al!reeinl! to <br />Dublish their provided advertisement in all City publications for one (1) year. Force Main Issue (Mill Road and Peltier Lake Drive) <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that there was a leak in the force main located at Mill Road and <br />Peltier Lake Drive recently. Mr. Peterson indicated that it was determined that the cast <br />iron pipe used for the main had pitted badly and was in need of repair. Mr. Peterson also <br />stated that the entire length of pipe is deteriorating and in need of repair. Mr. Peterson <br />stated he had received several quotes from contractors to repair the main by directional <br />boring so the blacktop would not be disturbed. The lowest bid received for a directional <br />bore with a 6" plastic pipe came from Penn Contracting. The bid was $58,752. <br /> <br />Mr. Peterson stated that Penn Contracting had indicated they would be able to start <br />construction the week of October 30, 2000. <br /> <br />Mayor Wi/harber questioned the amount of pipe being replaced. Mr. Palzer stated a 20- <br />foot section and the section under the culvert would be replaced. <br /> <br />Mayor Wi/harber questioned whether the increased pressure created by the new pumps <br />may have caused the pitting or deterioration of the pipe. Mr. Palzer stated that slight <br />hammering on the pipe does occur when the pumps stop. <br /> <br />Council Member Sweeney questioned where available funds would be expended from to <br />repair same. Mr. March stated that same would be expended from sewer funds. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Sweeney. seconded by Council Member Travis. to <br />accept the directional bore bid submitted bv Penn Contractinl! in the amount of <br />$58.752 and directed staff to determine whether additional pipe in the area needed <br />to be reoaired or replaced.
